The Dukes are back on the road Wednesday night to face Saint Joe's at Hagan Arena. Duquesne only faces SJU once in conference play, so this is two games in a row in that regard. The Hawks' most significant win to date came against Temple, secured in dramatic buzzer-beating fashion. The game winning shot was knocked down by Deuce Jones, who was Saint Joseph’s leading scorer at the time. He was officially dismissed from the program approximately two weeks ago... Duquesne isn't the only team with personnel drama.

This is a must win, if the Dukes are ever to make this season a winning run. If it's a loss, that Dayton game will not have a full house, except the Dayton fans that travel well.

I'll be in my usual seat right behind the Dukes bench. I don't have the best record in person through the years, but I think the Dukes get the job done over a mediocre Hawks team. Duquesne 84 St. Joe's 77

This is about as "must win" as a conference game in early January can get.

In other news, the Pittsburgh Post Gazette announced it will be shutting down May 3rd.

Tragic what the Block family did to that paper and Pittsburgh.

Some really ugly turnovers from both sides…

Not looking like a cohesive unit tonight and a bit sloppy. Better get in sync at the half or we drop this one.

What's up with the limited playing time for Necas? He was off to a nice start.

Ray Goss is a legend but this Noah is putting me to sleep.

Wow zero defense. Coach Dru fire your D coordinator. If it’s your responsibility bye bye . I am sorry your team is pathetic defensively. Get your Stuff together.

That is a pathetic loss. Not going to win many when you don't play even the slightest of defense. Giving up 97 to that team is inexcusable.

Several thing hit me watching this game. First, why is Crawford in there instead of Jake. Second, just how did this coach let this get to OT. Then, in OT, no one, on our side can drive to the hoop, except Max, but he's on the bench? DJ just lost to the last place team, which pretty much tells us just how bad this season is going to be. DJ liked being a player, but he had better figure out how to be a coach. This was a winnable game.

Just glad I didn't get a chance to watch this debacle.

Anyone can coach a player for defense. Not so offensive skills. This team has talent offensively. Coach Dru step up your game. If not 2 years you’re out. I want to see you succeed. Step up your game with the players and assistant coaches. Let’s go Dukes.

Starting to think the Dru Joyce hiring after a historic NCAA tournament run was a monumental mistake…

How many years left for Dru?Duquesne made a terrible mistake in giving this job to him.The defense isnt'
there ,Dukes should have won this game easily but lose shooting close to 60 pct from field.

Between the Men and Women Duquesne Basketball is an embarrassment this season. It will get a lot worse before it gets better. They just gave up 97-points to a team that dismissed its best player and their coach quit just before the season. VCU who looked great against Duquesne and scored 93, lost at home tonight to St. Louis. The talent level is just inadequate at this point. With guys coming and going every year, I just don’t see how this gets better. Sad to see that they have sunk to pre-Championship futility, and never figured out a way to capitalize on tha A-10 title in 2023-24.

I think everyone got swept up by DJs relationship with Lebron, plus KDs success in the tournament and pushing Dru to be head coach. He isnt the right guy and it looks kind of bleak for the Dukes right now

His original contract was 5 years, The buyout ( which is always negotiable ) becomes manageable ( by DU standards ) after the 3rd year. So he almost assuredly returns for the 26-27 season , after that who knows ??
The AD still supports him , at least for now.
My opinion - just reading the tea leaves is - if the team implodes with no sign of improving and the outlook going forward( 26-27 ) appears murky at best I wouldn't be surprised if a change was at least considered. There is a palpable anxiety around the program for certain.
Dru gotta right the ship somehow. Tonight's performance ( if that is what you wanna call it ) certainly didn't help !

The hiring of Dru Joyce as coach was a monumental mistake. He obviously can't coach defense and has no clue to what's working on the court as he constantly subs out players who have given the team a spark. His love affair with Crawford is comical at this point and his hate for Edwards is evident. Going to be a battle to avoid the first round game at this point. David Dixon and Necas didn't deserve this bull since you never fed the post. Where was Max Edwards in the 2nd half Dru? WTF

Max Edwards gets 3 minutes. Please explain Dru Joyce. Better have a good explanation which we'll never hear of course.

Agree Dru isn't up for this.So many good young coaches out there. This staff doesn't know how to coach big men, They go to the basket with hesitation and with no authority. Dixon could have been a beast nationally with the right coaching and Necas will be playing for BYU or the like next year. Sad. Dambrot must be much disappointed right now.

When St Joe tied the game at the end of regulation, we got the ball back with something like 7 seconds left. Why didn't we call a time out to set up a better play? Did we not have one left?

Agree a monumental mistake. Sad because with the right coach this team could be pretty good instead we'll be fighting to avoid a first round game when the tourney is held at the PPG center. SMFH
