Brandon has been steady. Nothing really exciting but he’s giving the team solid defense at the 3 and is minimizing mistakes. Hes not trying to do too much on offense which is an improvement over Max, Cam, and Jake in extended minutes. I think Dru has solved the dilemma at the 3 spot. It’s not the high ceiling we hoped for that Max, Cam or Jake may have provided but he’s not hurting the team as the others have done consistently. I like Jake right now in 12-15 minutes a game and Max on the bench unless there’s an injury or serious foul trouble. Disappointing that Max hasn’t realized his potential but he’s too much of a wildcard at this point to play. The team needs consistency at the 3 so I’m in favor of Hall starting and Jake playing behind him. All 4 men had the opportunity to grasp the starting role and none made it an easy decision but I think Brandon gives us the most consistent minutes at both ends of the court. Jake should be able to relax and fill a valuable role as the back up. Cam can contribute but I don’t see the need except to give the backcourt depth. Thoughts?

I’m surprised to say I agree. I haven’t noticed anything he does particularly well, but the team is better when he’s in. It’s somewhat ironic that DiMichele would be behind him because the same could be said of Jake before he got hurt.

Neither Hall nor Jake is a 3. Dru is now starting a 3 guard lineup. I applaud the effort to try a different idea. This experiment should have been started 5 or 6 games sooner.
Hall deserves his fair share of criticism for the bad defense played over the last 30 minutes of the SBU game. In a small sample, his FT shooting has been awful. As a starter, he has turned the ball over just a bit more than he should. The team's improved defensive performance against URI had much more to do with the successful blending of man-to-man & zone schemes rather than anything specific Brandon did. For these reasons, I am not ready to say that his introduction into the starting lineup has been a success.
The good news is Hall seems more comfortable & confident every game.

I feel like Jake was worse on defense. Teams seemed to key on him and bully him going to the basket. Jake would be better as a 1 or 2 defender. In the 3 spot he was getting pushed around

I am all kinds of confused about this guy.
For the vast majority of the GM game he was bad on both ends. The missed layups had to make everyone on this board crazy. Then he hits 2 very clutch 3s with all the confidence in the world.
He is still lost on the defensive end as concerns help side rotations & pick & roll, but collected 5 steals while playing with great energy for 37 minutes.
This the best the Dukes have looked in consecutive games all season. I guess I should just relax & hope the winning continues with Hall in the starting lineup.

Top 2 Dukes last night in +/-
Jake was +18; Hall was +10
Just saying...
And Hugley was a -11 in only 5:23 of play.
Cam was a -7 and Aekins a -5 in 1:34 of play

I'm all in on Hall going forward.
