Kip McLane passed away last Friday at his home in Florida; he was 61. Kip was the captain of the Dukes in the mid-1970's. Funeral is Friday in Steubenville. That is sad news, Kip was a gutty player, son of a former Duke who played with Red Manning in the 1950's. Kip was undersized at about 6-3 or 6-4 but always listed at 6-6. After he graduated I ran into him at a CCAC class in Shaler Twp. What a nice guy, we joked about the Wheeling College game at the arena when he finally punched out their Forward named Greg Swanson who had been hanging on Kip all night. Kip had a little grin on him as he left the floor with Red screaming at him and also giving him a wink as he replaced the ejected McLane.

Re: Kip McLane
Me and my Game buddies gave Kip a standing O from The Section C 24 area.
My goodness 61 is way too soon to pass, RIP to a former Duke.
A diehard fan since 1961
