If your son were good enough to play in the A10

If your son were good enough to play in the A10, where would you want him to go? Assume he is a good student and has the skills to have a solid career as a basketball player, but not good enough to play in the pros. He wants to play in the league and every school would offer him a scholarship.

Davidson.   Nicest weather and arguably the strongest academically.  It also has what looks to be a beautiful campus, although to be fair, many of the A10 schools have nice campuses.  I also think Davidson has a nice history in BB, and having Steph Curry as a fellow graduate wouldn't hurt.

Davidson is a good choice. St. Louis would provide a good education, a good social experience being in a nice city and a good basketball experience.

Re: If your son were good enough to play in the A10

Interesting point -  My response would probably be WHERE is your son from??   The Duquense education would probably help him a good deal in Western PA -  probably not so much in Virginia --  If he was  from down there an education at Richmond would probably mean more than one from DU and so on --  and on the guys side Western PA does not produce that many good hoopsters -- even Robert Morris recruits almost exclusively OUTSIDE the area --  SAME argument goes if we're competing against a school in a simlar level & other conference -  He makes a visit to DU -  sees 2,000 (or so people) rattling around in Palumbo -  sees we have almost no television exposure --  IT'S A PRETTY TOUGH SELL!!!  Can be a case of how the dominoes fall (player A goes to X -- player B goes to Y -- player C goes to Duquesne.

St. Bonaventure.  Good Franciscan education and close enough for me and the Mrs. to go to Seneca Allegheny Casino after visiting the child!!!   Ya gotta have priorities these days.  Merry Christmas Dukes family, fans and friends.

You gotta love you some snow.

Why not send the kid to Dayton? He'll play in front of 16,000 people and be the only game in town for 4 years. That's my general pick, not a response to St. Bona.

Correction my friend how about a solid 500 diehard fans.2000 is the good old days. At this point more people at highschool games. GW has national recognition thanks to medical school.

Re: If your son were good enough to play in the A10

I was trying to make a point by this question. Duquesne provides a solid education and the opportunity for a good social experience. But we are lacking from a hoops standpoint. I can see someone local choosing to come here. I can see someone who thinks he can turn a program around coming here. But if you want to play in front of people in the stands and have a decent chance at getting into meaningful post season play, this is not the place to come. So our coaches have an uphill battle in recruiting. We don't get the player who everyone in the A10 wants. We have to get players who have potential and hope that they develop. It's a difficult job.

I'll go with Dayton also.  When I applied to go to college the 3 I chose and got accepted to were Duquesne, Dayton, and Arizona State (long story).  Last night watching Miller coach and Dayton play I actually wondered about how nice the sports would be there.  They are similar school to ours, but of course a better atheltic program over all.  May everyone have a Blessed and Merry Christmas and remember the reason for the season!

Re: If your son were good enough to play in the A10

How about McConnell, we were mad when we lost him, but think of it, starting point guard on #3 team in USA, maybe great eight or final four. If had stayed he would have labored in front of no fans, no meaningful tournament etc.
Instead of firing Ron they should have thanked him for finding such a talent and getting him to come to Duquesne, and asked themselves, why are we running such a horrible program. Two winners, one quits and transfers and we fire the other one.
That's past, Merry Christmas😉
