Western Michigan

It will be interesting to see how the Dukes come out on Wednesday after the smack they took on Saturday.  Also, could we see Mamadou Datt back on the court?

Re: Western Michigan

Has he been able to practice? If not, I doubt it. If he has, then I would expect him to get some minutes off the bench along with Abele. I will be interested in seeing who's minutes get cut.

I don't know if he is fully recovered from his most recent arthoscopic knee surgery either.

Re: Western Michigan

In Ray Goss interview with Coach Ferry he said that he has been practicing and is healed and ready to go, but probably will go slow as he is not in game shape.

Re: Western Michigan

That is correct CLK, Datt has been practicing for about a week now, most of his Maniscus ( probably mis spelled ) has been removed now its bone against bone. Can't see someone playing much with that, kind of like Paggue, we will never know.

Re: Western Michigan

No mention of Datt's eligibility in Official Site write up.

Re: Western Michigan

Can't imagine that Mamadou will be much of a factor this year. Had an awful lot to learn the last time we saw him play. Let's wish him the best and hope that he still possesses the quickness that he showed early on.

Re: Western Michigan

I would say he was better than or equal to Marhold last year so I think if things fell into place he could contribute a lot.

That is a big if.

Re: Western Michigan

Western Michigan has a big frontcourt at 6'7, 6'8 and 6'10. Each of the 3 has at least 10 rebounds in a game. I think we need to run the court and knock down a lot of 3's to win this one.

Re: Western Michigan

Had to work late.   Glad to see we are winning.

We won.   Good game by Coulter.

Re: Western Michigan

Colter really had a nice game. Unstoppable at times.

Re: Western Michigan

I didnt think we would win 7 non conference games.   If we could grab one of LAL or Penn State it would be really beyond expectations.   We just always have such a bad taste in our mouths after RMU losses.

Re: Western Michigan

The team has most assuredly beat everyone's expectations.

Western Michigan is not a bad squad.

No idea how Lafeyette is but I think it is more likely than the PSU game.

8 non conference wins is awesome. I think 4 to 6 conference wins would be a good goal, honestly. That gets them to 12 to 14 wins. Not too shabby for a team everyone took craps on preseason.

Re: Western Michigan

Great win by the Dukes.  Our guys played wih a lot of energy and determination.  Got to work on those free throws and unforced turnovers.

Re: Western Michigan

Not much chatter after this game, not much to complain about I guess.

Re: Western Michigan

Both Garrold and Barrold were at the game tonight.

Nice win for the Dukes.  I like what I'm seeing from Jim Ferry's team.

Re: Western Michigan

No bad losses so far. That is saying something.

Re: Western Michigan

Dan I equate ugly losses to bad losses, so yeah, we got a couple of those.

Can someone talk about Jeremiah Jones' intentional foul? What happened? I'm sorry the kid got his button pushed. He's going to be a huge player for us. Nice to see a breakout game by Colter. Would love to see Derrick, Quevyn and Jeremiah all have a big night together,

Re: Western Michigan

I mean losses to bad teams. Yes, the RMU and NDSU games were ugly. The Pitt game was pretty ugly but they are an excellent team.

Re: Western Michigan

Was Torres under the weather today. Sean was running the point for a minute or two when Colter was getting a breather.

Yep! For all of the whining that occurred when we lost those games, Albany is 9-2, and ND St. is 9-3. Those are solid teams, and not horrible losses.

Re: Western Michigan

Indiana Jones played very hard all night.  It was a very physical game and he was holding his own against a much bigger player, but he just made a very stupid move by throwing an elbow to the chin of the other player.  The refs at first did not catch it, but credit the WM player who sold sold it by falling stopping the clock and getting the refs to review it on replay. WM drained two technicals and got the ball and scored.  Indy is going to be a great player but he has to recognize the situation.
