Craig Meyer ‏@CraigMeyerPG  Tarin Smith on why he chose Duquesne: "It was a really good fit as far as the campus, the style of play and where the program is headed.”

Re: Tarin Smith Commits to Duquesne

Good news guys, thanks for the information.  We should be OK at guard this year, but with two seniors it was essential that we lock up a quality guard or two to play alongside Rene in two years.  I know Duquesne wanted Tarin badly out of High School, so it sounds like a good match for both player and program.  Now we just need to figure out a way to  get these guys before they make a mistake and have to transfer in to Duquesne!  Sometimes, though that year of sitting out can really benefit a player and allow him to mature physically and really work on rounding out his game.
I don't recall if Tarin played for Nebraska against Penn State last season, but I watched the game. Too bad I didn't know he was transferring at that time.  I just remember commenting that Nebraska looked like a team that lacked motivation, just really didn't want to play for the coach.  I don't know all the particulars but I just recall making that comment as I watched the game.  Anyway great to have another talented guard in the program.

I think this is tremendous news.  Castro and Smith could fill in for Mason and Colter if they are up to task.

He did play against PennState.  Here are his season stats.  Wish the FT% was higher.....

Re: Tarin Smith Commits to Duquesne

We don't shoot FTs well anyway. He fits in. I'm guessing he sits out a year because of the transfer?

With Mason, Castro and now Smith, I think it's time to give Ferry a new nickname: "Second-time's-a-charm" Ferry.
