Hi All, I don't recall that there ever was one while he was here. Hi All, Hello Fan, I had four of them at one time. I know we were down to two after our 3 win season. Have seasons tickets and my wife and two sons attended the Dukes games with me back in the day. We have moved once since but my wife and I will look for them. It was a shame. Danny had a great career for you folks but by the time he arrived here (and we stole him after his one year at Robert Morris) he was done. He really had no recruiting connections on the east coast. One of his memorable recruits was a home schooled kid out of Missouri. I don't recall that there ever was one while he was here. Here's the 2003 pre game story on the Danny Nee bobble head giveaway (with picture): Ken, Ken, Dave, here's a recent newspaper article on Danny - he's still living in Pittsburgh. Ken, Chauncey Duke was the home schooled kid. Danny had another recruit named Devario Hudson. My son was in different classes with both of them. Neither one of them lit it up academically. Neither one of them should have even been a DI recruit. My son ended up helping Chauncey with some of the class work. He couldn't help Devario because he never showed up for class! Chauncey was a 6'6" or so small forward. We had no idea how Danny found him! Even though he was home schooled he played organized ball at some point. When he left the program I don't believe he ever caught on with another school. Devario ended up at a DII program. If you look at the link Phoenix provided, there were definitely some skilled players. McAlister ended up being a 1,000 scorer. Dokes, Palmer and Tricco were legitimate DI players. Dokers and Palmer were JC. Tricco was a transfer. See what I mean about Danny's recruiting? When you start going the JC route, trouble is looming. What I remember most about Danny was that when he started talking it was non-stop. He would talk for 2 minutes straight and make it seem like one sentence. He was also very animated on the sidelines. I remember Danny in his first year on the Bluff, he had an open practice that a few media and about 100 fans showed up at. I had stopped at Sheetz and got a big coffee and drove down from my Franklin Park home. The practice was in Palumbo, the home court and Coach spoke for a few moments, then he started to come up into the stands, I was over in the Blue seats, and introduced himself one on one to each fan, " Hi, I am Danny Nee, thanks for coming ou this morning". Hi All, Can you tell us what you think about Tarin Smith. Fan, no luck so far with the bobblehead but yeah do you have any opinion of tarin smith? Dang it... Starting to feel like I'll never find one of these bobbleheads. Thanks for the input. I went to the resting place of my Danny Nee bobblehead and my wife must of relocated it or discarded it. If I can run it down it's yours. Smith won't have to worry about minutes here. Starting guards play between 38 and 40 minutes a game.

Danny Nee Bobblehead
I'm guessing he might not be a real popular guy at your school (which I admire, by the way - have enjoyed following them since he arrived there)...
But I'm looking for a Danny Nee Bobblehead, and am willing to pay $$$. Have had it saved as an EBAY search for many years and never come across one.
I'm a Nebraska grad, 2003, who grew up watching Danny's teams at Nebraska, and an avid bobblehead collector. Haven't been able to find the one of him anywhere.
If anyone would be kind enough, my email is:

Thank you for your consideration - Go Dukes, from a Husker.

Thank you so much for writing back. It would mean THE WORLD to me if you'd look and if you happen to find one, I'd definitely pay you for your time and kindness. Keep me in touch on that front and thanks.
Speaking of Danny, tell me more about the home school'ed kid... that sounds like a funny story. I could tell you funny stories for days about him.
Did he still have the character and cussing every other word going at that point or had he settled down?

Re: Danny Nee Bobblehead
I wished him good luck, and watched the scrimmage not thinking he would be such a poor recruiter and coach.
Too bad, he was good at Nebraska and Ohio.

Re: Danny Nee Bobblehead
Tarin should be a star in the A-10 by his junior year. Impact player as a sophomore.
He's more of a traditional PG who looks to create for his teammates but make no mistake - he can score, too. I think he's a stud.
I will say the makeup and dedication perhaps isn't the best in the world. Played considerable minutes in the Big 10 as a true freshman on a pre season Top 20 team and that wasn't enough. Didn't always see eye to eye with coaches and then bailed when a more highly touted recruit cane in this year (Glynn Watson). Used home sick as a lot of the reason for transferring but didn't exactly end up super close to home and many thought that was a cop out.
All that said, assuming his head is right, you got yourselves an All A-10 player by his junior year. •
