Dukes are the 11 seed, no bye. Open vs. La Salle on Wednesday night at 9pm. Win and advance to play Davidson on Thursday at 9pm. Win again and face the Bonnies on Friday at 9pm.

Thanks, Phoenix.
It'll be interesting to see who we play on Saturday and Sunday.
Hey, we can dream, can't we?
LET'S GO IRON DUKES!
Offline

Pomeroy has the Dukes winning their opening round game vs La Salle by 7 (77-70), giving the Dukes a 77% chance of winning.

Win yesterday quiets protests; beat LaSalle likely buys coach 1 to 2 more years.
Offline

Betting line opens with the Dukes as 7 point favorites.
La Salle chucks up the most frequent 3's in conference games (47.2% of their shots are 3's - making 34.1% of them); and La Salle has the worst 3 point defense in conference games (conf. opponents made 38.6%, matching the Dukes and Richmond).

Here's Pomeroy's analysis of the A-10 Tourney. These advanced stats give the Dukes a 0.6% chance of winning it all; a 29.2% chance of winning 2 games.

Well I sure hope this team comes out and plays well, we are all disappointed because we are fans, but I bet these guys really went thru hell on the losing streak.
I had some enjoyable moments this season, thanks Dukes.......

Look shitty, as usual. Never pass, dribble. I hope this coach stays home in Brooklyn.

Way too many first-half turnovers. Let's see what the Dukes can do in the second half.

Apparently, not much.

I'm actually doing a school project for my Masters over watching the game. This is coming from someone who once told Ron I was going to skip my Wednesday night class to go to a game. I saw we were losing to La Salle and just decided, "Meh."

Another disaster, but: you don't want Micah to shoot the ball??? What???

La Salle is the #282 ranked team in the country according to Pomeroy. Another great defensive effort by a Ferry coached team. What a complete mess.
Offline

The most points that La Salle has scored in an A-10 game this year was 76 points. Only scored 70 or more points 4 out of 18 conference games. Never 80 points; until they faced a Ferry coached defense.
Offline
That was absolutely embarrassing. It's time for Ferry to go.

That's that.
Any questions?

And another shitty Duquesne season goes into the books!
Oh well, next year, when we are the #14 seed maybe we can knock somebody off after our 8-23 season and 2-16 League record!

CLK wanted end of season comments, here is mine.
It is hard for me to think this program will ever get any better under this regime. I do think it could be much worse next year.
I don't think our talent can win in this level of conference, most of our starters would not be starting on other conference members teams.
Have a good off season, think I will follow the NCAA for the rest of March, go FGCU!

But we're building a program; it takes time. The cupboard was bare. Our guards are short. We're young. Would you please extend my contract?

We got better at the end of last season, giving us hope that we were on the rise. This year we fell apart at the end of the season. Did coach lose the team or were we just not very good? I think the latter. We simply do not have enough good players. I agree with Ray Goss' comment at the end of last night's game, "This was a disappointing season." We are losing 35 points per game in Coulter and Mason. Our returning players do not seem to be consistently good offensive players. Rebounding seems to be generally good. Defense, whether that be due to scheme or effort, is poor. Recruiting needs to improve and coach needs to get more out of the players he has on board. Is there any indication that will happen? Another year when all the air came out of the balloon. But this year there seems to be less hope moving forward.
What a complete mess men's basketball is. Next season will be a complete embarrassment with hosting the A10 tournament.

Here are some numbers - about the Future Sad as it seems - Think things are WORSE than Pressure Cooker & Ray Goss might think
4 Years into the "Ferry Era"
The A-10 seems to be coming off a "down year" - Joe Lunardi has 1 Lock for the NCAA and a few bubble teams.
Dukes were in one of the two Play in Games and lost by 15 on a Neutral Court to the Last Place Team.
57% of the Team Scoring is gone 29% of the Rebounding 71% of the Assists - More could follow if additional players leave.
Unless Smith is something like "Popeye After Spinach" - Where he can steal the ball - pass to himself on an Alley Oop and Slam it Home - See VERY LITTLE REASON for Hope - I doubt if the incoming freshman players are better RIGHT NOW - than Sanders, Steel, Jackson etc (although they may develop). PHYSICALLY they will be going up against people 2-3 years older (unless EVERYONE else in the league is also playing freshmen and sophomores)
Classic Line from the Old All in the Family Sitcom - "Hate to Bring You BAD news - but when there is NO GOOD News - What other kind can you bring?

I feel especially bad for Micah Mason. He had one hell of a year. Any sort of post season tournament would have been a very nice send off. From the Pomeroy link the Dukes are 5-15 in the A10 tourney since 1999. And I believe 3 of those wins came in the magical year we almost won it all with Aaron Jackson. Chew on that for awhile. I can contribute $5 to the Buy Out Ferry fund.
Offline
Who would have thought the highlight of our season would be a blizzard? Echoing Ray Goss ... ' a really disappointing season.'

What a disaster! Out coached, out played, out hustled. Ferry is a complete joke of a coach, period. He allowed LaSalle to excel in the only two things they do well, shoot the three and Price to dominated. There is no accountability of his players by Ferry, no adjustments. He sits there with the deer in the headlights look as Colter is out of control and makes bone head plays turning the ball over. The bottom line is LaSalle wanted this game more than the Dukes. The Dukes were not prepared and could not adjust and that is squarely on Ferry. and absolutely inexcusable.
