Offline I do not see the need to keep him around for the rest of the season. Offline Jim Ferry, in a 5th year of a rebuilding program - "doing it the right way" - brick by brick , and with a cupboard not bare (stocked with his recruits) just lost two games (UT Martin & UBMC) to coaches in their first year. Enough said. I do not see the need to keep him around for the rest of the season. Offline I haven't posted anything this year, no real reason, but, all of you, especially the Ron Haters. The next coach that comes into this BLACK HOLE of coaching and in less that 2 years brings us back to some level of relevance, just don't crap all over the guy. That's all that Ron got from a handful of very vocal posters on these 2 blogs. Like you had a better idea. Ron brought in a different game that worked with the lower level of recruits we can get. But was just attacked on this board, but constantly. Want to win at all??? Find a guy that sees another game, and wins with it, and support him, period, because, in 5 years, Ron did the best since the 60's teams and was run out of town, We are a bunch of fools and deserve Ferry. He's what you get at the next level when you run a winning coach out of town,. Let's try not be the fools when and IF we find that kind of coach again.. I think things will be different this time, because their is no division of opinion. NO one and I mean no one thinks Ferry is a good coach or that he should be retained in any capacity. (Of course has anyone heard from Bilgy lateley? ) Offline WWBD (What Would Bilgy Do) Offline WWBD (What Would Bilgy Do) Sorry ED, thanks for the kind words, but I am done. It's a promise I made myself when Ron was fired. I was wholeheartedly in the Ron camp (actually if you read my post on the other board back when, I was more of a "pragmatist," who, while not Ron's biggest fan, thought blowing it all up, and hence starting over again after TJ, was the wrong thing to do) and I guess history has proven me right. I will be back when the team has over 20 wins and is in the bubble talk for the Big Dance. Not a minute sooner.
Jim Ferry
We just lost to UBMC
I have no problem with Dave Harper getting him the hell away from Duquesne and putting anyone else there to man the ship for the rest of the year. It can not get worse so who cares. Jim Ferry is a cancer and I do not want him influencing the culture of Duquesne anymore.
Get him out of here---and let's start looking for replacements. Shoot, one of you older guys should apply.

Mistake to focus on coach Ferry clearly he is over his head He is toast come the end of the season. HOWEVER if the new AD is worth his weight he cleans house throughout the athletic department. Hopefully Brian C is retained. The remaining group are the equivalent to 4 stage cancer. As the 45 th President would say " Your Fired". If not Duquesne continues to flaunder.

Tejas, you would be missed in many ways and I hope you would wait to first see who is brought in before making a decision to leave. Amodio and Dougherty soiled the sheets with the hire and extension clause that enabled Ferry to be the worthless $3M coach. You know some of us older guys have even longer-tenured frustration (although I understand how deeply unhappy you are!) are still lingering. Maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised this time around.
My own thoughts on a new coach are that I would like to see us get the MBB version of Dan Burt. Young guy who recruits well, has strong assistants, no ego, wins, and wants to be here. Gotta be a guy like that out there.

I was so disgusted that I said, "that's it. No more five year plans for me I hadn't reached puberty the last time the Dukes went to the dance and now I am over 50. Why waste any more time? My wife has often asked me, "if it upsets you so much, why follow it. Why make yourself miserable?" I am really getting to that point! I will NEVER see Duquesne University in the NCAA Tournament! Never! Never! Never! So why bother?
Funny people think of me as "anti-Ferry" but in reality, up until these past few weeks I have been the biggest pro-Ferry guy, because, as I have stated here and told Dave Harper myself, when he fails, I am gone!
I have a hunch that I am not the only alum out there who is going this route as well. My rooting interest (and yes, I will beat that dead horse for the last time) my parent's money, which I promised to do something with after my Father's death in 2011 is going to go to some other, much more worthy cause, than an incompetently run four decades plus joke of an athletic program.
To all of you who choose to stay, good luck! I am done!
