Reece was under the weather.

GMU and Fordham tied 48-48. 35 seconds left. If GMU wins the winner of our game vs Fordham gets a double bye. GO GMU! Fordham ball.
Offline
There’s a scenario if SLU loses that we will still get 5th I believe. Either way this GMU-Fordham game is huge. Overtime in Fairfax.

It was 48-40 GMU. Fordham scored a layup and 6 free throws to tie it. Odoro and Gaines fouled out. Nice to know we aren’t the only ones that receive these whistles. Although they alway seems to directly affect us! Haha

Going to OT. Unfortunately, Oduro has fouled out. If we could have just beaten Davidson. Oh well. Go GMU!

Yep. The officiating screws us even when we are not playing. GMU can still pull it out.

Wow looks like Saturday is going to decide the double-bye. You couldn’t have written a better script!

Can anyone explain to me how Dixon doesn’t get significant minutes for this team every game. If you don’t think he could have made a big difference on Saturday we aren’t watching the same games.

Thinking the same thing. If he wasn't hurt why wasn't he in there? It's as if the Dambrot was hiding him from being noticed by Power 5 schools. This guy is a stud and could have made a much bigger impact on this team if given the minutes. A few more wins no doubt. IDK, but never looked hurt to me when he was out there and never looks too tired to be pulled after 2 or 3 minutes which he was constantly. Something strange about his lack of playing time.

4th Seed Scenarios
If St. Louis wins vs. Dayton on Friday, Duquesne just needs to beat Fordham to get the 4th seed.
If St Louis loses to Dayton on Friday, Duquesne needs to beat Fordham and George Mason to beat Richmond.
If Duquesne beats Fordham and St. Louis and George Mason both lose, they will be the 5th seed.

We’ve shredded this token pressure. Just missing open shots to start the half. The lack of stops is the reason umass clawed back.
UMass came out in the 2nd half in a halfcourt 2-2-1 trapping zone that the Dukes clearly had no idea how to attack. Then the Dukes were outscored 24-10 in the first 8 minutes & 43 seconds of the 2nd half while shooting 2-13 including 0-7 on 3PT shots. The change in defense was exactly what got UMass back in the game. UMass also had its best stretch of shooting during that time. To say otherwise is just....
The Dukes are a much deeper, older, & more talented team than UMass so the Minutemen couldn't continue the comeback after cutting a 16 point lead down to 2 on the road. With about 8 minutes to go their stout pressure gave way to fatigue & the better, deeper team took over.
The Dukes lost the 2nd half by 7 points. They didn't shred anything.
3 points:
-There is no denying that the Dukes generally look unprepared when an opposing coach throws a defensive surprise at them.
-When it happens against higher quality opponents with deeper benches & a bit more experience, the Dukes lose.
-It doesn't always work but, having the ability to throw defensive wrinkles at opponents makes any team more dangerous.

Great win, not folding under pressure, but if they are as stupid and careless with the ball as they were in the first half tonight, they are one and done, no matter what seed they have.

Fair question after what we saw tonight. He was nothing short of spectacular. Personally, I would be a little hesitant last game because of Davidson’s Princeton offense. Seasoned vets struggle with those coverages, let alone a true freshman. Dambrot mentioned in his postgame that when Dixon plays you know something is going to happen. It may be good, it may be bad, be he always impacts the game. If he can polish up a few things, the sky is really the limit for him. That finish in transition was a thing of beauty!

Phil, we scored 4 points fewer in the second half than we did the first. On the other hand, we gave up 19 more points to umass in the second half. That should tell you all you need to know. I’d encourage you to look at the quality of our looks. The quality did not change.
We also had 9 turnovers at halftime. We only had 3 in the second half. I would hardly say that Martin’s defensive change was impactful.

City we allowed Davidson to dictate tempo in the first half of the game. We needed to change things and not sit by and watch. Dixon is quicker and more athletic than any of our 5’s he would have posed problems for the Davidson defenders. What is really sad is Dixon is playing at a position he shouldn’t be. He’s a 4 and I would love to see a line up with him at that position.

Does GW factor in at all? They are 10-7 too. They play VCU Saturday.
Dayton v StL is friday night.
