Dukes Moving in on Coach’s Poll

The Dukes are only 2 votes shy of the Top 25 Coach’s Poll.

A few A10 teams on the list. I can't stop thinking about how awesome an A10 football conference would be.

I and others on this board have been banging on that A 10 Football Conference drum for years.  It would be a nice improvement over the NEC in the quality of athletic programs and academic reputations.  It would also add to the A 10 brand reputation.

Trouble is, the Dukes are a winning program but with a “stadium” that boasts the SMALLEST  seating capacity of ANY FCS or BCS institution.  That makes us a poor attraction for the other A 10 school to join us.

No major league field, no band, no imagination.   Just a good team that plays way above the resources of a real collegiate program.

Attending a game at Rooney is simply NOT an event.  I’ve tried bringing others and they don’t come back again.   Look what building the Coop is doing for basketball.

I’ll never forget Marshall’s soccer team laughing at Rooney Field knowing that our football team played in front of a seating chart smaller than their high school teams.

Expand Rooney to at least 5,000 and play a few games at Highmark.
