Like last season, there is little interest in offering the fabulous prize of a no expense paid trip to McKeesport, Pa. Therefore, there will be no contest. However, everyone is welcome to get on the record with their predictions. Well I am hoping CLK is right. I want them to be competitive, have a winning record, and make it to the NCAA or NIT EVERY couple of years. bit too early for a number yet, just hope over .500, the new guys play defense and the best for the new head coach. 28-3 for the repeating A-10 champs. Since the A 10 moves it’s Tournament I say we go a bit more local too and have the winner get a free breakfast at the North Versailles Denny’s. It has been a long time since [ have had the E&P strawberry pie. 10-3 non con Team is loaded with talent and coaching. 25-6, 26-5, 27-4, 28-3 all possible, but I think the Dukes will make the road to the tourney a bit more interesting. Say 24-7 win 2 then lose the A10 championship to finish 26-8. Get an At large and play one of the play in games win 4 in a row to get to the final 8 and see what happens. I always overshoot on this but like Charlie Brown and the football, here I go again. I think the key to success this season is to get this team to gel early. To do that Coach Dru needs to identify is 5 best players and give them the most minutes. There is no question that there is a lot of talent and depth on this team, but IMHO he can't play 13 guys. Dambrot learned this lesson last season trying to keep everyone happy. It didn't work, and to his credit he me made a decision to shorten the bench and play his best players, and the rest of the story was historic. Dambrot mostly played 8-10 guys down the stretch in terms of minutes. There were some guys who were not happy, and I think Dambrot felt bad for them, but he did what he had to do. I think Dru will have to do the same thing to be successful. Pick your 5 best guys and go with it. The competition will be for the next 3 to 5 guys coming off the bench. Let's face it college basketball is a business. It is not like kids tee ball where everyone is entitled to play. Every player has a job and gets paid. Player minutes are earned by work and performance, and the coaches get paid based on the performance of the players. I am optimistic about this season based on the talent level of this team. Now it is up to Coach Dru and staff to bring it home. Couldn't agree more CLK. It was a major problem last year early on. Have to think that DJ has to know this and will divide the PT wisely. Can't have too many cooks in the kitchen even though our depth is one of our major strengths. I would put our first 10 players up against any other A-10 team's first 10. I'm going with 9 and 4 out of conference, 11 and 7 in conference giving us a 20 win season heading to the A-10 tournament where I hope to see another magical run. Let's Go Dukes My prediction - 9 - 4 out of conference -- 12 - 6 in conference... I love the depth on the roster, and I like the smooth transition with Dru moving over to the head spot. I think there will be some growing pains though. The A-10 is loaded with good coaches, and sneaks under the radar with the level of talent on the floor too. Been sitting on this for a while, so here we go....

Get On The Record 2024-2025
There are a total of 13 non-conference games and 18 League games. My prediction is that the Dukes will go 12-1 in the non-conference, and 15-3 in the Conference to win the A10 regular season championship.
PREDICT the Dukes to sweep A10 Tourney and repeat as A10 Champions

13-5 in conference with first round bye
3-0 in tournament and ride the guys to another championship

11-2 Non Conference and 12-6 Conference.
23-8 overall and but 2-1 in the A 10 tourney.
25-9 to make the NIT and win our 2nd NIT Crown.

I'll say:
10-3 non-conference season
8-10 A-10
1-1 A-10 Tourney
19-14 overall which isn't good enough for any decent postseason tournament. As always, I'd love for the Dukes to prove me wrong.

I think the Dukes can compete at a high level defensively, but I have a big concern regarding a scorer in crunch time (like we had with Jimmy and Dae Dae). I think the Dukes may lose a few 1-2 point games. If either/both Edwards (whose game reminds me a little of Jimmy Clark's) or Tre Dinkins step forward, the record will be better than I anticipate. As luckymcd said, I hope the Dukes prove me wrong.
