"Duquesne running back A.J. Hines=15px was named Monday as the 2016 STATS FCS Jerry Rice Award winner, edging South Dakota State linebacker Christian Rozeboom by a single vote for the nation's best freshman."

Congratulations to AJ for the recognition.  What an honor for AJ to win this award!  My guess is that players who win this national award usually come from one of the power conferences in the FCS, such as the Colonial Athletic Association, the Big Sky Conference., the Missouri Valley Conference, and the Southland Conference.

It's frankly amazing that Hines won this because, you're right, he plays in the NEC where no one cares.

1300 yards (9th in the nation) and 13 TDs (T-12th) in only 11 games is quite a statline.

He's quite a steal. Assuming he stays here for 4 years, wow he can really carry this team to the next level. Maybe the team can put up more of a fight against dakota and hawaii these upcoming seasons.
