2022-23 CBB Transfer Portal Stats

The final breakdown of how many D1 players have not found a new NCAA home after transferring this offseason. 45% of players who entered the portal this year will not play NCAA basketball in the upcoming 2023-24 season.

All those years of extra eligibility have really saturated the market. That doesn't even take into consideration the high school kids who never got a chance at all.

With the transfer portal the coaches can take chances on players and if it does not work out for either party, they can  part ways at the end of the season. We have taken chances on several players, wether it maybe they were injured in HS, borderline Division 1 player, questionable academically, or a bad actor. So it really gives some of these  players a second chance to prove themselves. So I would guess a lot of these players that don’t get picked up out of the portal, would not have been offered a scholarship years ago.

Thinning the herd.   Talent will get you so far, need to mature and be responsible to keep going.
