I know the NCAA uses these ratings for the past several years as a tool to see who qualifies for the big dance. I have a major problem comprehending this for the following example. Maryland is ranked 45th with a 1-2 record. Maryland played Davidson and UAB on a neutral floor and lost to both of them. Davidson is ranked 108 and UAB 81. Clemson who beat UAB and Davidson on a neutral floor is only 49. As these four teams get into conference play, Maryland and Clemson will continue to rise in rankings win or lose because they are in the big 10 and ACC where as Davidson and UAB basically would have to win out to catch Maryland. How is this possibly fair. I could list many more examples of this, but this one proves my point, that these ratings are bullsh*t and not fair to the non power conference teams.
