Very excited for the season! Thanks for posting a game thread. This team has meant a lot to me over the years and last year felt like a huge payoff. I'd say its all gravy now but after a taste of winning, I just want more.

I was wrong to consider this a nice easy opener.   Looks like we are in for a dog fight.
Wear white if you are going tonight, saw a post on X from a couple players, its white out night.

Thanks for taking the reins, BluffHunter. And thanks for all the kind words from everyone.

Lipscomb is the front runner in the ASUN preseason rankings.
https://asunsports.org/news/2024/10/1/2024-mbb-preseason-all-asun.aspx

I do hope that we have some sort of home court advantage tonight in spite of the political events taking place nearby. I think the Dukes will squeeze out a W in a low scoring affair based upon strong defensive play. Go Dukes!

Betting line just came out. Dukes favored by 5½; O/U 146½.

Jarrett Durham has retired; however, Ray Goss is back for his 57th year doing the play by play for the Dukes.  He will have Noah Buono as his sidekick. All the best to Jarrett, great guy.   Go Dukes!

THANKS TO BLUFF HUNTER FOR THIS POST!!!!

For years Phoenix Rising has provided us with a Banana Split - Complete with Whipped Cream, Cherries and Nuts (for those who were NOT Allergic)

I Would have been Content with a Vanilla Ice Cream Posting -  JUST the Ken Pom Ratings and the Haslam where we have an idea the two teams total ranking out of 334 and a prediction that tells more than the point spread which doesn't always make the PG.   NO need for me to see the Div 1 experience, size, good wins/losses etc.

AND it does take a while for the Ken Pom ratings to make sense -  How do you rank a team like DU NOW with all the departures and newcomers.

SHOUT OUT TO BOTH PHOENIX AND BLUFF HUNTER!!!!

Gonna say Dukes 88-69 tonight. Break open a fairly tight game in the second half. Can't wait to see the talent and coaching on this team.

Per EvanMiya, Lipscomb is one of just 13 D1 teams with 3 elite shooters.

It's probably part of the Duquesne preview, but the only thing I'd add would be series history. I normally look especially for a coach's history against a particular team, but obviously we're not going to have that this year. We've played them once before and dominated them 58-36 in 2019. They have played one A-10 team since then and actually won at Dayton 78-59 in 2021.

Thanks for putting this together. I loved having Phoenix's previews and it looks like you'll pick it right up where he left it off.

If you recall, the last Lipscomb game set basketball back nearly 50 years.  The Dukes and Bisons combined to finish 1-for-40 from the three-point line ... The only triple in the contest came courtesy of former guard Tavian Dunn-Martin (2018-21), who connected at the 9:16 mark of the second half for Duquesne.

Time to dust off my keyboard and log back in to this message board. It’s time to defend our championship. Lets go Dukes!

Lip on pace for 120 pts.
Too slow to cover them, too slow to get to the rim.  We woke up at least.  Might have a game afterall.
Would like some FT makes.

Shot selection horrible. Bisons  very solid team. Dukes have talent but Dru needs to find the right mix. Ass kicking so far.

Dixon and Necas looked like they never played the game before.

That was brutal all around. Nobody played well. Having Williams and Barre would have made a difference given the Necas and Dixon performances. On to the next. The talent is there, but need some Jimmy Clark and Dae Dae chip on the shoulder toughness. The worst was having to listen to Cannon again. Ugh.

Wow both MIA . Zero production. Not good. In being objective maybe the offense ran classic Matt  Canada offense.  I don’t think I ever saw a low post. Zero inside out game. Yes they both provided nothing but the offensive scheme very questionable . Coach Dru welcome to being a head coach😂It was good seeing Coach Dambrot with his wife on TV. I like the talent on this team. Remember the Dukes went 0-5 at the beginning of the A10. One point, did not the referees suck?

First thing I want to say is how great the atmosphere was all night. The loud student section stayed interested the whole game even when Duquesne was clawing back from an 18 point to a 5 point deficit, then back to a 15 point deficit to eventually get close again as the clock wound down. The students want to support a basketball team. Duquesne is a basketball school. I hope they keep coming out. We also have a great band now!!!! I even saw stew down there with the students like how it’s supposed to be. The loss hurts, but the season is long. Go Dukes.

Great to hear. This team will get it together. You can see their passion and disappointment. Williams who didn't play will be the glue I feel. Dude has the experience and drive and looks the part. You could see it in his eyes on the bench tonight.
