Duquesne double header. Men at 7:00 Free Video Thanks, CLK. The last time that the Dukes played Morehead State, the starting lineup was Mike Barr, Wojdowski, Montanez, Roebuck and Billingy in December 1971. And the most hilarious variation on a man's name is Craven Morehead... Pheonix - Those must have been the "REAL IRON DUKES" - SIX men on the roster - after Dave Roddy was declared inelligble - they added a character named Brian Devine who was from Community College - (wasn't even one of the better players from ACC - but WAS available) I was thinking Agnes Ken. But that's funny. Roddy was available for the first half of the year before being declared ineligible. The only other scholarship player was Dave Harrington, a little used forward. Definitely the Iron Dukes, who got blocked from the postseason due to the Roddy situation in spite of a 20-5 record that year. Definitely the Iron Dukes, who got blocked from the postseason due to the Roddy situation in spite of a 20-5 record that year. That team could have had Mickey Davis, and Ed Searcy as the forwards. Would have been a serious Final Four contender, Red would have never retired, and we likely would have been in the BE from day one. I went to everyone of those games, the Dukes played Nebraska that year and Maryland, they were ranked and Billingy was considered one of the best big man in the East, he battled Glen Price of Bona and Marvin Barnes of Providence. I loved that team, they played well together, Darnell Roebuck of Perry averaged 13 points a game and shot 65% or so and he and Jack W ( Canevin) were tough defenders, both at 6-4. There were actually 25 teams in the field by 1972. I don't know when it went beyond 16, but the Dukes beat St. Joe's in 1969 to reach the Sweet 16, so there were probably 24 teams by then. 1952 was the last year for 16 teams. 1952 was the last year for 16 teams. I think you are right, I recall a few years later that the conference champs were given automatic bids, most eastern schools were independents then, and later the runner ups to conference went to NIT. I totally forgot Kenneth Faried went to More Head State! Duquesne is a 5.5 point underdog. I say cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war! No TV tonight? thanks I just found that myself First 5 minutes and it is the usual LHTM Defense, ridiculous. Uncontested 3's and generally anything 7' from the basket is uncontested. Pleasssssssssssssssssseeeee Harper, make this guy hire a defensive assistant as he can't coach D a lick!! Come to think of it, what real pedigree do these assistants have??????? Turning this stream off...I can't listen to it like this. Looked like a little momentum going into the half but then a half court shot. Ouch. I can't believe with 7 seconds left, Ferry let them roll in in to mid-court. Lucky, or unlucky they miss handled the ball. But our 2 senor guards can't handle the ball-pressure, can't set plays, and missed a load of open shots. Morehead shot 54.5% from the 3. For the season, they shot 37.4%. I don't want to hear from Ferry any coach speak if they lose. He is responsible as head coach. I rather lose 54 to 44 then constantly get shredded with 3's. we are 4 for 13, 3 point attempts at the half, They are 6 for 11, It's the diff in the score. 30% from the field. Most of our misses were wide open 3's. Also we've lost six Mason points on called fouls Also we've lost six Mason points on called fouls I saw that, bad timing. Couple minutes ago, Robinson made an offensive play that none of the other bigs have shown. Catch, hang in the air, take the foul, and make the short shot. And he seldom gets minutes.

If I remember correctly - NO WALK-ONS - They looked AWFUL Intimidating doing the "lay up drills" which every team did in practice - Three on a side!!

Ruben would have been a great 3 point 2 guard in today's game, Mike Barr could handle the Rock and did a ton of assists before they counted them.
Even if Mickey hadn't quit and they would have more diligent on Roddy eligilbility ( I think Smizk brought it up) they would have been an NCAA team in the then 16 team field, they were that good.
