Offline The thought of Grant, Brewer, & Clark in the starting lineup makes me very nervous. This creates a very small lineup while forcing Easley to once again play the 4 & leaving Tre Williams without another proper big to work with. I had Reece penciled in the starting lineup and Clark as the backup point guard. Offline The thought of Grant, Brewer, & Clark in the starting lineup makes me very nervous. This creates a very small lineup while forcing Easley to once again play the 4 & leaving Tre Williams without another proper big to work with. I expect we'll see a bunch of different rotations and with all the front court depth we'll see bigger line-ups throughout the season. Just impossible to know at this point which/if any of the big freshman can contribute regularly. That line-up posited by the reporter is based solely on experience. I can easily see Rotroff, Williams and Easley out there at the same time now that we have 3 or 4 "big" options behind the them. Offline Thoughts… Offline I still believe that the young big talent must be served. If Williams and Easley play 25-30 minutes a game, we will be very average at best. Thoughts… Point 1: Totally Agree. It's September--practice has just begun and you're actually giving credence to a reporter's guess as to our starting lineup? Give me a break. Offline IF Rotroff comes back in the condition he was in last year and IF not suffering an injury, he could be a significant force. Offline In regard to Kevin Easley at the #4 spot; I think he learned something about being successful in the A-10 after Tre Williams went down with the injury. Kevin was basically functioning as a #5 for the Dukes and I thought he showed that he can win inside perhaps as a 4-man in this league. With his size and strength he can rebound and defend as a 4 and also hit a variety of jumpers from the foul-line extended, as well as in the paint and possibly pull his defender out the corner. This is most likely his best position both for the team and for Kevin to grow as a player as opposed to trolling along the 3-point arc for shots. Assuming the guard play has been upgraded this season, Kevin doesn't need to be playing as a wing. Last edited by levon1975 (9/29/2022 3:23 pm)

-That article gave the writer’s assumptions, not coach facts.
-based on past practice, there has only been a few years where Dambrot’s starting line-up remained the same over the first month.
-If Rotroff stays healthy, I could see him starting after a while…sooner if not later.

Point 2: Totally Agree. In Dambrot's time at Duquesene, the words "starting lineup" has had little to no meaning. His opening lineup is comprised of any of his his top 8 players, his lineup is determined by who may be in his doghouse, his lineup is determined by who practices well and who does not practice well, and,in addition, certain players on the floor at the opening jump are pulled within the first few minutes anyway. Opening Lineup?
That's an archaic phrase in Dambrot-ball, let alone in some reporter's imagine.
Point 3: Totally Agree--maybe. To quote FAM, "If Rotroff stays healthy" will make point 3 valid.

In regard to Rotroff, I hope against all good sense that he can contribute at least in small doses. I don't think his body will ever allow him to play anything but short stretches. He hasn't shown that he can physically keep up with the the speed of the game , probably why he gets hurt every year; but this is the time of year for optimism. I think one would be considered an optimist to predict Rotroff will play at a high level for significant minutes based on the last 4-5 years; however, I wish him nothing but the best.
