Re: Game Thread - University of Richmond Spiders

Don’t see Dukes minus 3. Yes Spiders nice wins against Temple & Drake. But I watched William (Bill) & Mary formerly called Indians win at home against Richmond by 1 point. W&M is not that talented but was a rivalry games. If Dukes can defend the Princeton offense (no back door bunnies) they win by at least 5 & over. Go Dukes

Re: Game Thread - University of Richmond Spiders

Of course they have to play strong defense again...but the wild card here, though not so wild, is how will they do playing an away game.  We know that they do well at home.  They have to learn to win away from the Coop.
Go Dukes!

Grant's gonna light Richmond up.

Re: Game Thread - University of Richmond Spiders

Maybe a hidden stat here would be that the Dukes keep improving with each game and Reese is in now. Early games for the Dukes they were still finding that chemistry that they have now. I think this is a winnable game. Go Dukes.

Hoping for a W and that as you said guard the Princeton offense although that is not a strong suit of the Richmond Duquesne battles over the series life.
Go Dukes poison the Spiders!

Re: Game Thread - University of Richmond Spiders

What’s been going on with the radio broadcasts?  104.7 fm and 907 am seem to not be carrying the games.

coffee, the games are broadcast on 104.7 HD2 (not 104.7); you have to have a HD radio to tune in (most newer cars have this built in).  The games are supposedly found on iHeartRadio (never tried that method).  Per Duquesne game notes, RADIO: 104.7 HD2 / iHeartRadio with Ray Goss ('58) & Tad Maurey

Re: Game Thread - University of Richmond Spiders

I’m really trying to recognize this year’s team is totally different than year’s past, and much better. Still I can’t get over the house of horrors that Richmond’s gym has been for us. The 3 point numbers terrify me too. Of course the Spiders love to kill you with 1,000 paper cuts using back door cuts to get bunnies. Even in our wins we’ve struggled defending the three though. We need to defend the whole floor and can’t sag to prevent the bunnies. Once again I hope I’m wrong, but I just don’t see the Dukes taking this one. Hopefully the new Dukes keep proving me wrong until I come to my senses.

Re: Game Thread - University of Richmond Spiders

Richmond winning 3 out of 4 and playing like Richmond. I'll be thrilled with a win but not overly disappointed if the Dukes come up short. One of the tougher games on our schedule. GO DUKES!!

With the Dukes, KD is 1-1 at the Robins Center.  Interestingly enough, KD is 0-3 at home and 1-1 at neutral sites versus the Spiders.

Re: Game Thread - University of Richmond Spiders

-Gotta play fast because that is when Dukes are best & Richmond doesn't want to
-Dukes must control their perimeter shooting
-Tyler Burton is a tough matchup for Dukes as a great shooter/all-around offensive guy/rebounder at 6' 7"
-Their starting PG is 5' 10" & a redshirt freshman that hasn't shot very well on the year
-7' starting center leads team in assists & A/TO ratio/does not shoot 3s & has only 10 blocks in 15 games
-They go 8 players deep, aren't very big, & don't foul much
-They don't generate many turnovers but also don't turn it over much

Re: Game Thread - University of Richmond Spiders

4-0 in team fouls already. One ref blows for a foul for Clark, the other overrules and says travel. The trend continues…and it’s getting old. Would love to see a Dambrot technical!

Re: Game Thread - University of Richmond Spiders

Home or away, some things never change. Richmond just got a 3 from a shooter on the arc line.

Re: Game Thread - University of Richmond Spiders

34 points is still a lot of points to give up in a half. But still, 62% shooting is great. Got a little sloppy at the end of the half there... there's still a ton of ball left to be played.

Re: Game Thread - University of Richmond Spiders

Hope the first 16 minutes carry over to the 2nd half, not the last 4.   Love how the whole roster is contributing tonight.

Re: Game Thread - University of Richmond Spiders

3-0 team fouls to start the second half. Gunn just ran in front of Burton who slips and gets sent to the line? Interesting

Re: Game Thread - University of Richmond Spiders

Horrible start to the second half

Re: Game Thread - University of Richmond Spiders

Another slow start in the second half. This trend is concerning.

Re: Game Thread - University of Richmond Spiders

They look lazy and complacent now.  Better wake up PDQ.  That big lead is gone now.

Yes, a phantom foul. Nice play-acting.

Re: Game Thread - University of Richmond Spiders

7-2 fouls. Unreal. They don’t call a goaltend on Clark’s layup. Then they call a bogus illegal screen on Reece and another quick bang bang block/charge goes their way for his 5th. This is a joke. Keep fighting Dukes!!
