DU women 58 - Richmond 51 OT

After trailing the majority of the game, except for one brief lead.....dukes tie it at the buzzer and hold Richmond scoreless in OT

18-8.  10-3 A10

Great job!

It's not mathematically official yet, but I believe the ladies just about wrapped up a bye with that win.

Best game of the season & it was the only home game I've missed all year.  Grrrrrrrr....

Re: DU women 58 - Richmond 51 OT

No, if they lost their remaining games and Richmond won theirs, Richmond would pass them.

They need one more victory for a bye.  Two wins or a win and  a Fordham loss would clinch the three seed.   Fordham is at GW this weekend. So that scenario is possible.

It is scoreboard watching time because the women are moving up in the RPI.

WVU beat Iowa State today.  Iowa State is ahead of Duquesne in the bubble watch so that is a good result.  WV may have helped us.

It may have also bumped WVU ahead of us also, which is more likely IMO.  Iowa State probably stayed in front of the Dukes too.  It's too early to tell whether that was a positive or not.  I was actually hoping for an ISU win there just to keep the Mountaineers out of the bubble picture as if we're both on the last two or three in/out WVU will probably get in above us due to the H2H result.

I wasn't sure if WVU would pass us.  They fell to mid 60s in latest RPI I saw.

Re: DU women 58 - Richmond 51 OT

True it was in the mid 60's, but that's now 5 top 50 wins, eight top 100 wins, and only two bad losses - both to Texas Tech who is right around #100.  The Dukes are still at one top 50 win, only three top 100 wins, and two bad losses.  Sure the RPI says Duquesne, but the way the selection committee has been selecting teams they're going to take WVU right now.

Also, St Joe's defeated Richmond 61-59 today, assuring the Dukes of a bye.

Re: DU women 58 - Richmond 51 OT

We're in an odd spot of needing WVU to win just enough.  We don't want them on the bubble but need them to win enough where a road loss by 19 doesn't look awful either.

I wanted Richmond to win that to stay in the top 100.

And hopefully Iowa State loses a few.  As well as LSU & Georgia.

Do you think that if we were to play Dayton in A10 semis that we would possibly knock them out?

GW beat Fordham.  We clinch the 3 seed with a win tomorrow.

Re: DU women 58 - Richmond 51 OT

Richmond will still stay in the top 100 even with the road loss.  That win actually gives St. Joe's a shot at the top 100 should they win a game or two in the tourney, which we could desperately use given we double the Hawks.

We won't knock Dayton out of the NCAAs.  Dayton would need to lose at least one more regular season game and then lose before we'd play them in the A-10 tourney to be out.  A loss to a quality team like DU won't eliminate Dayton.

Loss tonight hurts NCAA chances
