Offline They have a good team and are 10-3 in conference play. We almost always play them tough. Can we steal this one at home like GW game?? Offline Only one problem it's not a home game!!!!! Before you correct me yes the game is in Pittsburgh but that's the extent of it. There will be more Dayton fans in the stands and quite frankly I have yet to see the Dukes play a decent game at Consol. Offline It's probably a good thing this is not at Palumbo. They would outnumber us at Palumbo, and the noise would be noticeable. At least at the Consol, the huge expanse of empty seats will swallow up any noise the Dayton fans make. Offline Their fans do travel well and they are annoying as all Heck. I took my older brother to Palumbo vs Dayton years ago and this guy was screaming all game long behind us. My brother turned around and said "you can cheer all you want, but the next time you scream in my ear I'm going to punch you in the face" Last edited by lilpav30 (2/20/2015 7:39 pm) Offline Weather will probably keep some people from attending tomorrow. Offline Weather will probably keep some people from attending tomorrow. Might keep the loyal student fans on campus from walking down the street. Offline Their fans do travel well and they are annoying as all Heck. Pittsburgh has a high population of Dayton alum & actually many of those fans you see at the game didn't travel any further than you or I to get there. Dayton is a school of the Roman Catholic Marian Society, as was North Catholic HIgh. Back in the day, if a kid from North was having trouble getting into a college, the priests there would arrange for him to get accepted at Dayton. Offline 1. Since the University and President appear not to care about DU basketball there won't be many there due to the weather. Last edited by FAM (2/20/2015 7:08 pm) I read Norm Nixon & Willie Somerset will be there. Just to ramp up the level of embarrassment for GA and Dougherty. Offline Good - Those two need to be embarassed by this program. Losing regularly certainly hasn't worked. Offline I'll never understand how Somerset didn't stick in the pros. His career average in the pros was nearly 22 points a game. I know he was small, but you'd think there was room for him in some capacity. Offline In Willies day not too many 5-8 players made it the NBA, I think he played awhile in a minor league and starred. Offline In Willies day not too many 5-8 players made it the NBA, I think he played awhile in a minor league and starred. Willie had a cup of coffee in the NBA, but he played 2 years in the ABA, which was not a minor league, and he was an ABA All Star his second year in the league. He averaged over 20 points a game both years in the ABA, which is why it's strange that he just vanished after his second year. You'd think that a guy who could average 20 points a game could at least find a spot as a reserve somewhere. Offline I'm not going to blame that on the venue. They're 1-8 because they're a bad team, playing their toughest games there. They'd be hard pressed to be better than 1-8, regardless of where those games had been played. They'd be hard pressed to be better than 1-8, regardless of where those games had been played. No blame just stating the fact, although I look at a couple of those games (like the Dayton game last year) and wonder if it would have made a difference. I would like to see the Consol used more to attract big names for the non conference schedule and less to conference foes like Dayton. Offline Wow, what a disappointing season for the Dukes. I am so disappointed....AD must go now. Lose to Robert Morris every year with a $700k coach no excuse! Most amazing part of that story is that a reporter cared enough to ask Amodio a question. This is probably the first time he has been quoted in a story since maybe the end of last season. Last edited by duqkurt (2/21/2015 1:15 pm) Offline Has coach rhodes been absent from games lately? any reason. Offline Watching this game on TV , announcer must have said 10 games that Ferry is rebuilding Duquesne, funny he didn't mention that he is rebuilding from the last coach who won 100 games. I wonder if the guy In the red sweater with white stripe sitting court side is a poster. He certainly has enthusiasm. Offline I don't know but he's at every home game courtside. I give him credit. What a game!! If Micah would knock down his 3s we could pull away Lol at the announcer saying if Dayton lost it would be a horrible loss. I don't know but he's at every home game courtside. I give him credit. What a game!! If Micah would knock down his 3s we could pull away He is at most women's games too. Offline Let's finish this. Send these obnoxious fans home with a L

2. I look for Ferry to focus on the L.H.T.M. Defense coupled with it not being at Palumbo I look for Dayton to be able to sleepwalk through this and win easily.
3. There will definitely be more fans from Dayton than Duquesne since Duquesne no longer has a competitive basketball program.

Re: Dayton
I got to see him play in college, he was built like a weightlifter with muscles bulging everywhere and was a great shooter and driver.
I was so young I didn't truly understand how talented he really was.
I had heard he had battles in high school against Dick Allen ( star Phillies baseball player)
Who was at Wampum High.
Farrell was a power and I think won two state title with Somerset and the General, Brian Generalovich.
Mossie helped us steal him from NYC, a power back then, they said they would never play Duquesne again, a loss since we recruited so well in New York .
A diehard fan since 1961

As for NYU, and recruiting in New York, didn't the administration basically forbid Dudey Moore, and then Red Manning, from recruiting in far flung places after the mid 50's, as part of the deemphasis of basketball? I would think that with the combination of Duquesne's high profile in New York during the mid 50's, and the deemphasizing of hoops at most of the NYC schools following the point shaving scandal, that the Dukes could have pulled elite talent out of the city on a regular basis, had they attempted to do so, and cemented themselves as a power of the first magnitude. This would have especially been true with regard to black players, as Duquesne would likely have been seen as "black friendly", after having so many black stars, in an era when this wasn't really common.

It's Alive!!!!
I see that Ferry must be taking grief via email. They took his email address off of the athletic department website.
Just like they did with Amodio after the sports were cut. Typical Duquesne, when the going gets tough......hide.
