At 7. Offline Duquesne Athletics†@GoDuquesne Playing well up 18-7. Offline The Dukes are hot and put a whuppin' on the Mountaineers, 62-54. This ranks as one of the biggest wins in women's program history. Dukes won only once before at the WVU Coliseum. Vanessa Abel has a grand performance in her return to where her college career began: 10 pts. in 18 minutes of play. Jocelyn gets 7 steals, 9 boards and 7 pts. Wumi has 15 pts., 3 boards (seemed like a lot more), and 2 blocks. Congratulations to the team, Coach Suzie and all of the assistant coaches for showing the college basketball world that they deserve to be ranked in the Top 25. I note that the TV announcers certainly offered plenty of praise for the Dukes' coaching and the team's quality of play and thought that they should break into the Top 25 in next week's poll(s). The Dukes' men's and women's team beat WVU in the same year - truly a rarity. It looks like the Dukes will be WVU biggest local basketball rival in future years, assuming that Pitt continues to avoid playing WVU.
P. S. How 'bout that free throw shooting for the Dukes: 81.5%! Next tough opponent will be either Delaware or Villanova in the Dartmouth tournament.
