ElDuque, welcome home!!!! I have stated the same point how disingenuous was it to the kids when you started the A-10 tourney playing 6 maybe 7 players but 3-4 of them playing as you stated 38 minutes. Castro sat out a year and will need sometime to fit in. I also don't see us getting any bigger at the guard position a disadvantage that Ferry himself alluded to when excusing the outrageous 3 point percentage we gave up this season. I stated from the start of the small spurt that everyone wants to latch onto that Ferry buried valuable experience for guys to paper off a disastrous season with a couple of wins. In the end when he had a golden opportunity to beat GW in the final the team couldn't or wouldn't get it to the hottest player on the court and eventually fatigue set in.

One of the things Q provides is length at the 2/3 position.  You probably are not aware of this, but one of his strengths during the recruiting process to UTEP is his defense.

If you know anything about basketball, you have to know that Tim Floyd is an excellent defensive coach.  If you don't plan on playing defense you will not play for him.  If Q is at the top of the zone, maybe some of the 3's get disrupted some.

To just say we are not getting any bigger at the guard spots isn't entirely accurate.  Yes, our main 1 and 2 guards are not growing...but we have Q waiting there to provide length.  Castro is also bigger than Colter.

Who is to even say we are going to stay with 2-3?  I believe one of Ferry's goals this off-season is improve our defense.  I highly doubt we will just sit back in a passive 2-3 zone for another season.

One thing I hope no one forgets is that Jim Ferry built up a program that went to 3 straight NCAA appearances.  He knows what to do and how to do it.  He was left with nothing.

Re: Ridenour's gone

So is that why he won ONE more game against D1 opponents with all of his own players than he did his first year with only 4 of his own players? I thought that the only thing it told me was that he could take yours and lose, and that he could take his and lose. Because that's the reality.

PS, if he teaches this team defense this year, it will be another career first.

You do realize Jackson is not playing, and will not be playing for Floyd.  Nobody has seen him play in a DU uniform so stop with the hype.  I hope he turns out to be a decent player, but I am not expecting much from him next season.  To try to cast him as a difference maker is iunfair to him.

Re: Ridenour's gone

WEB are you telling me that Q is going to play a guard and not a small forward. If what you are hypothesizing is the case then why didn't Ferry put Gill out there this year God only knows he never learn to play his defensive position. I will not belittle your opinions with "if you know anything" comments but I know enough to say this team had NO defensive improvement. His first year when he couldn't play man to man he played a 3/2 that would have been a better alternative. You can not deny the statistics that have been provided that his teams have never play well defensively. Unless you are dealing with absolute 0 IQ's how after 27/28 games can you have the same mistakes being made. I have no faith whatsoever in this staff. One more thing to the fools on the other board who choose to blowoff the accomplishments of Toole and RMU know this they will make two more NCAA appearances before we make one!!!!!!

dome, surely you dont think toole is a better coach than ferry. ferry has been to 2, count em 2 ncaa tourneys, toole has only been to 1.
i bet you go around thinking dan marino is a better QB than trent dilfer. Marino never won a SB, Dilfer did.
If i had to start a football team right now, you better believe im taking dilfer, not marino, just based on the fact that he won a SB!
(i hope you are laughing as much reading this as I did writing it)--this was my lame attempt at sarcasm and joke of the day.
i totally respect your opinions and thoughts on this board!

To be fair, he has little to do with their success. In fact, he has been held scoreless in four of the past five games.
