Offline Offline Last year people were fawning over a photo of our new ripped players. We (the fans) learned that being able to sing the Lumberjack song did not mean you could play defense, shoot well, make good decisions on the court, or hit FTs. I hope Ferry figures out the same thing, and does something about it, or you could be looking at a 10 win season, and more BS excuses. Offline We will find out soon my friend. Hard to believe that this Friday marks the opening of practice with midnight madness for many teams. Offline Being stronger can only help. Agree that it's only one part of the picture. Offline Off season and pre season lifting is fine to build strength; but basketball skill and team play are more important. I am dead set against heavy weight training during the season and especially the day before games. In my opinion this has been a mistake with this program and I hope it ends before we waste another season. This time should be spent on preparing for individual opponents and their top players. This is basketball not football. Heavy lifting during the season will also negatively affect shooters. Offline Agree with lifting the day before games, I don't think there is anyone that would think that is logical. Offline The Dukes are not doing anything different than any other Div. I team in the country. Let's see if Ferry has learned how to coach defense and that the two stars he recruited can compete. Offline The Dukes are not doing anything different than any other Div. I team in the country. Let's see if Ferry has learned how to coach defense and that the two stars he recruited can compete. How would we know that? I doubt that either of us have surveyed the strength and conditioning programs of all of the other D-1 teams. The differences can be subtle, such as timing of heavy lifts, repetitions required, and the specific exercise required. When I looked at Dez last year, I saw a guy who looked more like he was lifting for football than basketball.

We had two of the Top 5 percentage three point shooters in the A10 last year, so I'm not sure you can say it affects shooters in our case.
