Offline Another patient is coming into the AJ Palumbo Basketball Medical Center on Monday looking for a cure for their offensive illness. Offline Phoenix I was excited when Ferry said that defense was an area of emphasis this year. Last season the Dukes finished among the worst defensive teams in the Country. If the Dukes last year could have just ranked below 250 as opposed to above 300 they might have had a winning season last year. I think you pointed out previously that Ferry's teams historically have played poor defense, and looked to outscore other teams. If there is one thing that is very clear is that you not going to outscore A10 teams unless you play solid defense. I really hope what I saw on Friday was an aberration. If not grab a snickers because it will be a long disappointing season. How much of the defensive breakdowns were from lineups we will likely never see during crunch time v. ones we will see? As I posted in another thread the Dukes defense gave up 43 points in the second half against our starters and first players off the bench. No walk-on played nor did Jackson. Offline WEB, Seton Hill made 8 - 3 pointers in the first 11:02 of the second half. I thought that increasing the defensive intensity would have been the major talking point at halftime; taking Seton Hill completely out of the game. It was very disappointing the way this second half was played, especially from our seniors and Castro. Offline WEB, Seton Hill made 8 - 3 pointers in the first 11:02 of the second half. It was very disappointing the way this second half was played, especially from our seniors and Castro. I went back in the play by play and in the first 9-10 minutes of the first half, we gave up just 4 points. So, something is in there we need to capitalize on. Offline Our team won by 25 when maybe they should have won by 35!! Why the gloom and doom over parts of a bad half? The other team still never got closer than 15 points despite making all of those threes. Maybe praise should be give for the absence of the silly-ass named LHTM defense of the first half. Gawd-alive, I swear there are folks who are just looking for the negatives to accentuate and totally placing blind eyes to the good. Our four bigs out-rebounded their whole team 24 to 32. Why? Probably because their bigs apparently like firing up threes from Forbes Avenue more than trying to score from the inside. WEB, Seton Hill missed their first 8 - 3 point shots to open up the first 10 minutes of the game. I would say half of these were wide open looks. As you mentioned, there is something there - I believe these players are capable and willing to play defense, at least at an average level. I just think the defensive coaching philosophy is flawed. What is the philosophy? Again, I have not seen any live action. Hope to see Mondays game. Offline Powell sitting out again. Hope when he comes back he is focused on doing what needs done to get back on the court. Didn't see the game is Powell sitting on the bench. Offline Yes; between Tarin Smith and Jim Ferry's son!! What is the philosophy? Again, I have not seen any live action. Hope to see Mondays game. WEB, tough to tell if it is philosophy or player execution... 1) guards help interior defense when ball goes in paint, leaving perimeter open; 2) weak side defense aggressively sags to middle, causing difficulty for defender to close out on shooter when ball is swung; and 3) minimal on the ball pressure. Getting open 3 point shots is fairly easy by running your offense inside out, getting dribble penetration and reversing the ball. The Dukes seem to do more chasing than defending. And I think that they are more than capable of holding their own defensively on the inside with Lewis, Powell, Robinson, Sanders and Gill. Offline Their perspective on the game: Offline Both Offline Looks like WAY less than a thousand fans to me. Offline Do we have a student section anymore? Offline Dear Lord, Micah shoots well. We look better tonight so far. Also, is Sanders ahead of Robinson on the depth chart? Offline The broadcast quality is night and day btw. Props to whoever is running it. Offline Agreed . Big strides on this front. Offline The broadcast quality is night and day btw. Props to whoever is running it. I can't find the game online. Link anyone? Offline
Offline Much better first half defensively. Need to cut out the constant fouling though. Offline Is Powell still on the team? Offline I saw Powell on the bench, bur not in uniform. Poor crowd again tonight. Maybe a few more than SH game.
New Orleans Privateers
Although a permanent cure remains elusive, Dr. Ferry and his dedicated staff have a proven track record in providing at least temporary relief for these patients. Ferry's patented LHTM technology ensures that patients will be smiling when they leave AJPBMC.
As a research facility, AJPBMC looks to treat some of the worst cases of this illness. If you qualify, AJPBMC will not only pay for your expenses to visit, they will even provide you with funds so that you can continue searching for a permanent cure.

Re: New Orleans Privateers
There's a great line in there. Don't know if it's intentional or not: "They're (Duquesne) one of the offensive-transition teams in the country." BTW, Duquesne's defense has also been pretty offensive, as has its FT shooting.
Another small team against which Mr. Lewis can stand tall. NO got its doors blown off by BGSU; don't expect much of a game tonight.
Biggest question of the day: Will the words "a thousand" refer to the winning percentage at the end of the day, attendance, both, or neither?
