NCAA to consider new transfer rules

New transfer model would reduce restrictions on athletes but at what cost to college hoops?

As if the BCS schools do no have enough advantage under the new rules an Arizona (for example) could get a kid who is an all conference player in another league and not have him sit out a year.  Interesting discussion on tampering in this article.

Re: NCAA to consider new transfer rules

Arizona, hypothetical of course, because Sean Miller would never do that ......would be charged with a Level 1 violation for tampering.   Which according to the article would be a serious offense.

I don't understand why they would bring GPA into it.  Either you can transfer or you can't transfer (without sitting out), GPA shouldn't play into it.

I read that the BCS schools were trying to push the requirement to maintain D1 status up to 16 sports, up from the current 14.  That proposal should be coming along shortly.
