Offline Wanna see a definition of elevation? Go to the 1:47 mark of the first half and check out the dunk of Powell. Note about 3 seconds before the dunk, Powell touches the right side of his face signalling to DC to get him the ball. Offline Powell was more active against WKU and in control of his emotions, the over all officiating in this tourney was sub par. Even the guy running the scoreboard was constantly crediting points to the wrong team, not posting fouls and slow on the 30 second clock. Offline Grammy that's all well and good for one play. Let's see more discipline and a better effort ON both ends of the court and then I'll care about his elevation. A last point on officiating everyone better get used to what you are seeing since it is a point of emphasis to stop the restriction of movement. The arm bar is also being call closely, Darius does it constantly as does Powell. Last edited by The Dome (11/26/2015 9:24 am) Offline Grammy that's all well and good for one play. The arm bar is also being call closely, Darius does it constantly as does Powell. It's actually not a point a emphasis. It's a flat out directive from the officiating body. I don't where I read this but if I find it I will post. They are drastically different. Offline Dome: What game or replay against WKU were you watching while Powell was in the game? Why denigrate the kid's effort in referencing his fouls as opposed to his pluses that contributed to the team's W? Did you notice that in 17 minutes Powell played his other 8 points, four rebounds, a steal and assists that he had? Pretty good days work, I'd say. What is so difficult about putting a positive spin on Powell's and the Dukes efforts to date? Offline Dome: What game or replay against WKU were you watching while Powell was in the game? When you expect the wheels to come off, it's hard to be positive about anything. Offline Gram, Offline Gram, Thanks for expressing your enthusiasm for the Dukes and sharing your best memories of games you saw while you were a student at Duquesne. GO DUKES! Offline Gram, Nice to see the flame burning with some of the younger people and the current students. Gives us old guys the idea that our keeping that flame alive through what seemed like gale force winds over the last four decades has not been in vain! Offline CLK Offline I have come to know The Dome, and I have to say that it is a wrong characterization to refer to him as pessimistic or negative. He is expressing his view that some may or may not share. There is no bigger Duquesne fan who has ever posted on any of these boards who bleeds red and blue more than him. Let's keep things in balance. Happy Thanksgiving to all. Offline CLK Thanks Duques102, but I am an old guy and have to admit I don't remember which post of my you are referring to Offline CLK thanks for the kind words and Happy Thanksgiving to all. Grammy the waste of talent is a terrible thing besides kids fail to realize today the sacrifices that are made for them. Leave it at that.

Powell and James can really leap and are cat like quick causing match up problems, with a few breaks and better first half shooting against Pepperdine Dukes could have won this Classic.
A diehard fan since 1961

Don't understand the negativity either. For the guy to come off the bench and put up 10 and a couple assists, as well as a few ferocious blocks that looked fairly clean but were called fouls, can't ask for much more. The only thing I will say is there are times where he could be more aggressive on the boards but that will come. I've chosen to try to ignore the repetitive ignorant and critical comments about the team, coach, or an individual player. I know some have built up frustration from the past, but that's the past, move on and enjoy the season. This team is highly exciting to watch and boasts a much deeper and more talented team than we have had in the recent past that some can never forget. Some posters remind me of the guy that got dumped and still talks about her years later. Get over it.
On another note, the start of this game reminded me of the first Duquesne basketball game I ever attended. 2010, my freshman year, #14 temple came into the palumbo. Somewhere near a full house, we came out smoking hot, with something like a 17-0 start and temple didn't score until almost ten minutes into the game. Wondered if anyone here attended, saw that game, it's probably what got me hooked so hard on my dukes, besides the fact that I came here from North Carolina where college basketball is religion.
That year we were in the "others receiving votes" category of the top 25 and I think we were #28 at the highest point. That was the year we won like our first 9 A10 games and then lost a bunch down the stretch.
Also does anyone remember the Dukes Richmond game either that year (I believe, maybe the next)? National game on ESPNU, absolutely packed to the rafters, not a seat in the house for the chuck cooper red out, I still see people wearing those t shirts they gave out. We beat an awesome Richmond team wearing those red throwback unis that looked like the Chicago Bulls jerseys in the 90s. If you were there, you know how awesome that night was. That's the past I talk about and remember. Would love to hear others recollections about those two games.
Happy turkey day peeps! Go dukes!!!

No doubt brother, and I say shame on those that lost faith or the flame as you said. I would give my right arm to reach the levels of success of the past, but I'm also reasonable enough to understand that doesn't happen in three years, it just doesn't. I'm a year and a half graduated now and really think things are moving in a positive direction! Love this years team!
