Jeremiah Jones out for season with torn ACL. Could he get a fifth year medical thingy?? No, it's too late in the season. Unfortunately, he's done. Seems like there is a potential avenue for this but we have a full alotment of scholarships spoken for. No, it's too late in the season. Unfortunately, he's done. A player can play in no more than 30% of the team games played for the season. With 12 games played, we'd have to play nine postseason games which would include A-10 Tourney. With 12 games played, we'd have to play nine postseason games which would include A-10 Tourney. Big loss for the Dukes. I feel bad for Jeremiah. That is really a tough break for Jeremiah. Hope he has a smooth recovery. I know that he will do everything off the court to help keep the Dukes winning. This is truley a bad situation for him and the team. At the Gulf Coast Classic I met and spoke with his mom and grandmother, such nice people, I met Jerimiah also and he is such a well spoken young man, when I asked him what he planned to do after graduation he said he would like to keep playing, I assumed overseas. Got to say that Jeremiah has always played with intensity, and as he matured he has channeled the intensity and showed discipline. He has been a big factor in getting the team off the ground this year. Enter Tysean Powell at the four with Gill at the three. Rotating with James. The A-10 has a host of bigs that start for most teams. Few play a three small lineup at the guard/small forward positions. Now you nave Sanders and Robinson as your "bigs" for substitute purposes. Ya still keep Castro as a guard sub when necessary. Hopefully, the rotations of the bigs in pre-season will show rewards. He has been a big factor in getting the team off the ground this year. I like that last suggestion. I would love to see Lewis and Sanders, or Robinson, on the court at the same time. Insightful "Dukes Dispatches" blog by Craig Meyer of the PPG. Starting lineup is okay. Actually, since his injury happened in the OOC schedule and he did not play an A-10 game, the 30% only applies to OOC teams. He would be ineligible for OOC games next year, but could play in the A-10 portion of the schedule. He would be ineligible for OOC games next year, but could play in the A-10 portion of the schedule. Can anyone confirm this? I'm not really thinking of basketball right now, but more about Jeremiah, and how much he meant to his teammates and the Duquesne program. You couldn't ask for a finer representative of the program, and I wish him the best in his recovery. I'm sure the hurt is deep right now, but with the help of his teammates he will recover, and continue to inspire his team, and play another day. We are with you Jeremiah! I'm not sure I'd want to redshirt him anyway. Redshirts clog up your roster. Is Jones such a good player that you'd run a younger guy off in order to have him for a fifth year? Not really. Sorry folks, in my humble opinion, we're screwed. Jeremiah came into his own this year. He could take pressure off of DC and Micah that I don't see anyone else able to do. Hate being pessimistic just disgusted and very sorry for Jeremiah. Here's hoping I'm wrong! Sorry folks, in my humble opinion, we're screwed. Jeremiah came into his own this year. Jones brings a lot of intangibles to the game, but Eric James is much more gifted, and has a much higher upside in my opinion. For those worried about next year, James getting major run this season will make it much more likely that we won't lose a step next year. For those crying about 2 star players, stringing together some good seasons is what it takes to get 3 star guys interested. Sorry folks, in my humble opinion, we're screwed. Dukes face adversity, Ferry's recruiting depth will help with loss of
Good thing Ferry has done a good job developing Eric James. I expect no drop off in terms of the starters. It's time now for someone else to step up to take James' old spot

Someone could always transfer...it happens. But I'd like to know more about the medical redshirt first before going down that pathway. •

Cool, so we can just win the A 10 and then the NCAA tournament and we can keep Jeremiah. Awesome

Castro & Steel need to step up to give us some quality minutes. It will be interesting to see if Ferry goes with three bigs in the lineup.

PS A darn fine job by Mrs. Ferry in writing some of these topic headlines.

Eric will of course take the starting role. For backup, I'd prefer to see another forward-sized presence getting the minutes, as opposed to a 3 guard lineup - especially if Castro doesn't show some life. Steel should get a good look here, and yes, having Gill plus 2 other bigs would be a nice thing to try.

He points out that the lineup of DC, Micah, LG, James and Powell has been used most of the time when Jones was not in it. Love his last suggested lineup!! Good reading.

Re: Dukes face adversity, Ferry's recruiting depth will help with loss of
It's the rotation that will be the problem
If we go DC Micah LG James and Lewis as starters that leaves
Guards/Wing Castro Steel M Jackson
Centers/Forward Powell Sanders Robinson
Backcourt is the problem. Castro is rusty; Steel and Jackson are freshmen
IMO, first guard in would be Steel. Though a freshman, I think he has less downside than Castro.
Rotation: Powell, Steel, Sanders, Robinson, Castro and Jackson.
