Re: Micah mason

As they say the only bad publicity is no publicity.

Hey our college is now known in Iowa, wonder how many of those kids are Catholic.

Re: Micah mason

At some point this stops being an adventure and become life threating for all those stranded passengers.  The State needs to get those people moving or to shelter.  See post below.

Duquesne Equipment‏@DuqEquipment 29m29 minutes ago Just spoke to PENNDOT district safety supervisor, Dan and he said it does not look like traffic will resume tonight.

Duquesne Basketball ‏@DuqMBB   6m6 minutes ago It is becoming increasingly unlikely that #DUQMBB will be able to leave the Turnpike tonight. Preparing for another night on the bus.

The Problem:

Gov. Tom Wolf's office said the problems in Somerset County began after westbound tractor-trailers were unable to climb a hill. As traffic backed up behind them, more trucks also became unable to go up the hill, backing up all vehicles and preventing emergency crews from getting heavy-duty tow trucks to the scene and road crews from being able to clear the snow, officials said.Wolf said each vehicle had been checked at least once, and workers had been delivering food as well as fuel to make sure engines keep running so the heat can stay on. He said the state was working to get shelters in place quickly so people can be moved to them in buses if necessary.

Re: Micah mason

I heard a reporter on WPVI. Channel 6 in Philadelphia said PennDot was doing a great job. Except for the PA turnpike.  Kind of a big "except for".

Ray Goss is on the bus.  He is 80.  What a warrior.

Re: Micah mason

I think the priority is getting people in cars out first.  Apparently busses are not a priority.    It was a nice pic that they brought the Iowa gradeschoolers on the bus.

Per various reports bus is moving.  Team should be home tonight.

Re: Micah mason

Trips like that may help with Bonding (and at least it was after a road WIN as opposed to a road LOSS) Something to tell their children and grandchildren about some day - now BEAT LA SALLE

Re: Micah mason

They couldn't buy all the publicity they got out of this. Would be nice to put a win streak together, and keep the team in the public eye.

La Salle was beaten by a mediocre FGCU team in Dec. FGCU is winning in A-Sun, a conference that makes Robert Morris Conference look like a powerhouse.....

Nothing could make the NEC look like a powerhouse. No NEC team has ever advanced to the round of 32. I don't know if any other conference can match that. Even the much maligned MEAC, and SWAC conferences have had multiple teams reach the round of 32, and of course FGCU beat Georgetown a few years back.
