UMASS

Wow. That was almost a disaster. Would have probably ended any hope of an at large bid. The ladies found a way to gut it out though. 20-2

Re: UMASS

GW lost.  Bonnies lost

Duquesne won.  Gutted it out after being down 8 in the fourth quarter.

Tied for first again.

Re: UMASS

LEFT HAND COLUMN!! - In the papers - winning teams go on the left hand side - losing teams go on the right - Lady Dukes once again go in the left hand column!!

Thanks to Workman doing her "Lebron Imitation" (17 points 15 rebounds 5 assists - Not to mention a Monster steal - UMass was "rolling the ball up court" she stepped in stole it and drove in for a layup which basically clinched the game - Chassidy had a pair of NBA Threes in the overtime as well

Re: UMASS

That Workman steal of the roll in was as clutch a play as you could ever see. The ladies most definitely were not on their game early in this one but they hung with UMass and gutted out the win in OT.  Winning ugly is better than losing like GW and St. Bonaventure did tonight.

Re: UMASS

The Dukes will not be denied this season.  Aside from the tough stance that the Dukes made in the 4th Q and especially the OT, hearing that the Bonnies lost at VCU and GW succumbed to Fordham made this evening very special for the women's team, their coaches, and their fans.  I'm hoping for a much easier time for the Dukes against Davidson so that the starters can get some bench time.

Not quite sure on that.  I'd rather they both have won.  For NCAA purposes, I'd rather have our best conference win (Bona) and worst home loss (GW) look as good as possible.

Re: UMASS

I know every season has its ebbs and flows - but I gotta' wonder HOW AND WHY U Mass is winless in the conference??  They didn't seem to have any glaring weaknesses that are usually the cause.

ON TO DAVIDSON!!

After the Dukes' game with UMass I spoke to Coach Burt.  At that time I did not know the outcome of GW's and the Bonnies' games.  He told me of the results of those games, and he seemed quite pleased with the outcomes and that the Dukes were tied for first place with GW.

I believe that the Dukes' goal is to win the A-10 regular season and win the A-10 tournament.  GW needs to pick up a second loss and the Dukes need to run the table.  Should the Dukes finish in 1st in the regular season and should it win at least two games in the tournament, I believe that should be sufficient resume to get an at large bid to the NCAA post-season tournament.

Regarding GW's star forward Jonquil Jones, she has injured shoulder and missed playing in a few games, including the one against VCU:  http://www.gwhatchet.com/2016/01/27/prange-washington-step-up-in-jones-absence/
