DU women 23-2

Great game.   Won every quarter vs St Joes.   Dev Workman deserves to be A10 first team along with April Robinson.

Re: DU women 23-2

Yes, Dev is playing at a high level, plays a well rounded game, can hit 3's, good going to the hoop, great rebounder and defends well.  April found her stroke in 3rd and 4th an Lass with some big hoops, inside and out.  First half was spotty, and have to collect those free ones at the line a bit better, but great 3rd and 4th Qtrs.  They are a well-coached team that plays under control with poise.  A pleasure to watch.

Re: DU women 23-2

Read something interesting on the Pitt board.  A poster gave props to the DU women.   Then the conversation discussed the "point guard trade" and how we got the better of the deal with Chassidy and I agree.

And they were taking about DU's tall foreign post players and how is DU getting these players?   Lol. Coach Burt.

Then another poster said SMS should reopen that foreign pipeline.  Pipeline closed.  Umm, Coach Burt was SMS's pipeline.

Another poster on their board said something a while back.   That Suzie did better with Agnus's players than she is doing with her own.   There is truth in that.  Except for Brenna Wise and Stasha Carey her highly ranked classes have been sort of a bust.  It is late in the year and her stars from last year Bugg and Diop have seen playing time cut because their production has fallen off.   Pitt can't shoot the three to save their life.   April, Dev and Chas have way more three points shots made than their 3 point specialist Fred Potvin.  Forget the rest of the team.

People keep saying they are young and they are. But it is the second half of the year and they aren't showing any improvement as a team.

SMS sister Kathy is her top assistant.  I wonder if nepotism isn't biting her in the ass.  Coach Burt is out recuiting her.   And any recuiting contacts SMS has, her sister would share.   If the McConnell name is getting you in the recuits door, hearing it twice isn't going to be an advantage.

Well I just thought that conversation was interesting.  Go Dukes!

Re: DU women 23-2

Good post, Kurt.

Thought I'd add two cents to the mix.  Burt is an inside-out strategist.  Suzie is just the opposite. Watching yesterdays game with Bruce Atkins and discussing the pros and cons of what transpired through the game accentuated the results a well coached team can do.

Both Amadea and Kadri have exceptional "big" player skills for inside players.  Both can hit from the 10-15 jumper range from the baseline to the elbow.  Both can use left or right hands to score.  Both get up and down the court.  Both use their legs exceptionally well  for positioning themselves on O or D.  They have been taught very well.  I might add that the same is true to a lesser degree in Angela and Breanna.

As to the 1,2 and 3 spots, the first thing they all looked for was the "bigs" either on the elbows or down on the blocks.  Even when seemingly dribbling to no end they all still focused on getting the ball inside.  They too are well coached and execute well.  The team results reflect their overall mindset-coaches to players.

I might add that in their execution of the inside-out stargegy the three-ball seems to be the preferred shot.  All the team seemingly takes the first open shot, Kadri and Aamadea included, that more often than not ends up being a three!

Re: DU women 23-2

When Kadri or Amedea hit a three early, the gane changes entirely.   Defenses gave a tough time degending them down low when they hit from the outside early.
