Offline I don't want to see any postseason for this team. Let this season end. Offline Not sure of the demand for a 16-16 team that has lost 9 of the last 10... Offline Bring in Dr. Kevorkian. Take the money that would have been spent on a tourney and put it in the Go Fund Me account. Last edited by PhoenixRising2 (3/10/2016 8:56 am) Offline I agree, pull the plug. Ferry, however, said last night that if invited to a low level post season tourney the are going. Offline Well we won't get a home game which is good, so we don't have to see 150 people in the AJP Offline With the Vegas 16, there are a ton of spots to fill now. Unless they cut down the nets, it won't matter to me. Offline With the Vegas 16, there are a ton of spots to fill now. Unless they cut down the nets, it won't matter to me. Even with those extra 16 spots, I can't imagine that we'd get a call. Why? Because our fans travel so well? There are at least 8 A-10 teams ahead of us just by RPI, and Fordham finished with a better conference record. Last night's loss moves us to RPI 160. Bleech! Spending any $$$ on a tournament of any sort would be amongst the most moronic moves ever. Not that anyone is inviting them anywhere. We've hosted the NCAA's three times and wtf has it gotten us? Oh, I know, our logo was on the floors of the arena and console. Wow, the recruits came flooding in then!! Offline You add up the teams in the NCAA,NIT, CIT,CBI and Vegas 16 and it totals 164. Offline Excellent Tejas, I think most of us are anxious to read excerpts of whatever you send Harper!! Offline Maybe direct Harper to this Board if he wants to get the alumni temperature - although I suspect he is well aware. Anyway, just a thought. Offline In 2015 the lowest RPI in the CBI was 280 and in the CIT was 273 BUT only one team in these had a losing record (Colorado) and only one team had a .500 record (Oakland), so it is possible. That said, I can't see going to one of these tournaments unless the school wants to reward the seniors. That Vegas 16 tournament gives "pay to play" a whole new meaning. Offline Harper knows what the deal is. The school is not going to eat three years of Ferry's contract, so we need to quit whining about it. He's here next year, and then if he doesn't get it done, he's gone. Harper isn't going to bash him to us, or in public, nor should he. As long as Ferry is coach, the AD needs to support him. Firing Ferry will fix nothing if we hire the wrong guy. Ferry will get his fifth year. In the meantime, Harper has a full year to do his due diligence, as far as seeing what's out there. Harper hasn't been an AD, so I doubt that he's been out there looking at coaches. You go out looking now, and you're going to get the same thing that brought Ferry here. They're going to see some coach at a low major program that won 20 games, and made the NCAAs, and he's going to be hired. Good luck with that. Better to take the year, and put yourself in position to make the right choice, than to rush into the wrong choice, and be right back here 4 years from now. If by some miracle Ferry pulls a PJ Carlesimo, and suddenly figures things out in his fifth season, that would be good as well. Harper knows what the deal is. If anyone attends one mens bb game next year they are a damn fool. The school won't commit. They have the money to buy out the contract. Harper (who I happen to like) will bring in chicken sandwiches to the concession and dancing dogs for halftime as part of an improved fan experience. This current situation was caused by the knee-jerk reaction of GA, the President and the board; before you let someone go, you better have their replacement vetted and waiting in the wings (and not just a single target who had zero interest in the job). And now we are living with the results of this air of desperation hire. Although many of us on this board might have been tempted to have the same knee-jerk reaction over the events of the last 6 weeks, I don't think that is going to be the case with Dave Harper. I would not be surprised if he already has a search consultant on retainer. With the 3 years remaining on the contract buyout plus paying for a new coach (Duquesne will have to overpay to attract a quality coach here - both in salary and length of contract), it isn't going to happen this year unless someone writes a 7 figure check (9 with decimals). As hard as it is to swallow, we're just going to have to let this play out another year. Offline Duq81, you are probably right I'm afraid, but I was watching the A-10 UMass game - they beat URI - and it was announced that St. Louis fired their head coach Jim Crews. Now I know he inherited some of Rick M's players, but he won the A-10 his first 2 years and thus made the NCAA's two year in a row. Well two sub-500 years and St. Louie pulls the trigger. I guess that school doesn't buy into any excuses - just win or else. On another front, it will be interesting to see how Harper does with his fund raising, which is supposed to be his strength, given this waste of yet another season. Who in the hell would throw more money into this black hole known as DU BBall!!! Phoenix Rising with much due respect "knee jerk" reaction was not the case with RE. The fact was that "The Quinipiac Clown" out of pure jealously had worked 24/7 upon directing his flunkies to undermine Ron in every which way. However the President not the board had bought into "The Quinipiac Clowns " jihad to fire RE. This decision ultimately was the Presidents period! 5 million $$$$ contract😂. Fund raising alumni contributions what a joke. As Pistol had noted "Black Hole" not just the men's program but entire University. Very Sad.Duquesne U in regard to its once loyal fan base is currently at a very bad place. As far as the new AD good luck keep the current status quo and you join the Colleary & Quinipiac clown" as a failure upon your eminent termination. This program is at a all-time low. Offline Why would Harper have been searching for a new coach when the Dukes were 15-7? You realize that the late year collapse makes it unlikely that a change will be made. As 81 mentioned you don't want to act now and put yourself in a desperate situation resulting in a bad hire. Duquesne has some promising players signed for next year, so it's probably not the time to make a change. Offline Why would Harper have been searching for a new coach when the Dukes were 15-7? You especially have to really do your homework if you're looking at assistants. Regardless of all of that, I want a guy in here who is known for having well coached teams. No more of this "exciting style of play" BS. We've told for 40 years that if we ran, ran, ran, recruits would flock to our door. It hasn't worked yet. Ironduke81, I'm well aware of all the crap that went on for a couple of years in that dysfunctional relationship. In spite of all of the efforts to build a case to fire RE, there wasn't enough in the file to do so or it would have been done right after the season ended (and not telling RE that he would be back and allowing him to go on his recruiting trip). With the TJ transfer news, it then immediately became the "Now's our chance to fire him" moment; thus my term knee-jerk. Offline I agree, pull the plug. Ferry, however, said last night that if invited to a low level post season tourney the are going. Let them go. Just ask them not to come back.

Re: Pull the plug 🔌
Dukes were rated 159 by Saragin.
We have Mason, one of the best 3 shooters in the country, and we are a member of the A10.
Vegas 16 is in Vegas from Mar 26 to Mar 30. Cost $50,000 to enter. All games played at the Mandalay Bay hotel. Â Dukes get the wrong match up and it could be another debacle. I say no. End the season. Â
