Offline In what can only be termed a absolute joke the Dukes will throw more good money at a bad cause by going to the CBI. As I would expect the team to play any, and all games on the road (unless they reach the finals), this is likely to be a one and done deal. Offline But it still cost money!!!!! This is pandering to a coach and a team that has no right to play on. Last edited by The Dome (3/11/2016 11:31 pm) Offline And Didn't DU REFUSE/Turn Down an Invitation to one of those tournaments a few years back? Also Bruiser Flint who was a "candidate" for the DU Job at one time "resigned/was fired" after being unable to lead Drexel anywhere in the last 15 years. Offline To me this is Harper's first big test in dealing with Ferry. Reading between the lines Ferry mentioned a potential CBI bid in his post game presser, can we assume he is reaching out to the organizers? The sentence in the statement above describing the Dukes great start and the potential for Colter & Mason to get hot and carry the team also sounds like Ferry. Offline After losing to Richmond in the second round of the A-10 tournament, many questions remained regarding the Fordham Rams postseason hopes. Those questions have been answered today as Fordham announces they will take part in the CIT tournament. The Rams won their final four regular season games before falling to the Spiders Thursday afternoon. They finish the season with a 17-13 overall record and will host a first round CIT game. Fordham will take on Boston University Wednesday, March 16th at 7:00 PM. This marks the Ram’s first postseason appearance since 1992. Fordham will look to continue this season’s success with an impressive CIT showing. Led by freshman guard Joseph Chartouny, the Rams have experienced a bit of a revival year. Chartouny was recently named A-10 Rookie of the Year and certainly seems to have Fordham trending in the right direction. A win against Boston U. Wednesday night at Rose Hill Gymnasium is the first step in building towards next season. I believe Fordham possesses the ability to win the whole CIT tournament. As A-10 fans, lets hope they take the title and continue moving towards a very successful future. It was in 2012 when the Dukes were 16-15; RE's final year. I think that GA flatly stated that the Dukes would not participate. Offline If this tournament takes a team like Duquesne, then it's not worth watching. Offline On the other hand, Ferry has a couple NCAA under his belt, had a 30 and 2 team and was 4 and 0 v Andy Toole/RMU. Perhaps he can make something out of the 'garbage' tourney, to say, rediscover getting his groove back. An unlikely long shot, of course, but with all the humiliation suffered here past 4 years there really is nothing to lose! Flint had quite a few good years at Drexel, including a 29-7 record four years ago. The last time Duquesne won 29 games was, ............... NEVER! Flint may not have ever gotten us to the promised land, but I bet he would have done a lot better than the guy we picked over him. After all, he did make the NIT 5 times, and probably should have gotten a bid to the NCAAs the year he won 29 games. Offline AGREED. Offline
A-10 Website Reporting Dukes in CBI
This is a copy of the report on A-10 Talk a Website dedicated to A-10 News.
The Duquesne Dukes battled all season and finished with a 16-16 overall record. After a hot start, some thought Duquesne might have a shot at emerging as an A-10 sleeper. Unfortunately for the Dukes, this did not transpire. Including the first round A-10 tournament loss to La Salle, Duquesne dropped 9 of its final 10 games. Certainly a finish no one wants to endure. Due to early season success, however, the Dukes will still wind up in the postseason as they plan to enter the CBI tournament. Senior guards Derrick Colter and Micah Mason have led this Duquesne team all season. They both average nearly 18 points per game and leave everything out on the court. If these two can heat up during the CBI, Duquesne might have the capability to win the whole tournament. As nothing official has been announced yet, we do not know who and when the Dukes will play. Stay tuned for more updates regarding A-10 team’s postseason hopes and announcements.
