AWESOME JOB BY THE LADIES!!

97 POINTS - Workman was PHENOMINAL ,  ALL of them played exceptionally well. Kadri Ann got off to a great start and the second half was pretty much a CLINIC on how to run an offense!!

As Jackie Gleason used to say at the end of the Honeymooners Episodes

HOW SWEET IT IS

Re: AWESOME JOB BY THE LADIES!!

My daughter is possibly their biggest fan, but yesterday she had a social commitment that was made long before she knew the ladies would be in the tournament & that she couldn't get out of. She asked somebody to turn on the game, & immediately there was an uproar from other guests who wanted to watch the Penguins. That's good ol' Pittsburgh for ya. God forbid that anybody in this town get into something different & watch one of our college teams make history in women's basketball.  Gotta make sure the Pens maintain that stranglehold on 4th place.

How is it that the TV and radio sports reporters can correctly pronounce the names of all the foreign-born players who play on the Pen-groins and Pirates, but struggle when reading the names of the players on the Dukes' women's team?  Duquesne's website's listing of the roster of players provides an audio guide to demonstrate the correct pronunciation of those players whose names may present a bit of difficulty to the general public.

I think that lack of attention to proper name pronunciation will continue because the on-air local sports reporters are unwilling to take the time to learn the correct pronunciation because it's not considered important enough when reporting about a local college's women's basketball team's success - unless it's Pitt..  The attitude of most of the on-air local sports reporters seems  to be that: "Hey, we pronounced "Duquesne" correctly, and gave the score of its women's team's game.  What more do you want?"
