Re: Goodman Transfer List

I didn't study the list in detail but a couple of guards caught my eye:

Akeem Springs from Milwaukee: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/62805/akeem-springs

Christian Kessee from Coppin State:  http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/67524/christian-kessee

Grant Mullins from Columbia:   http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/62241/grant-mullins

Re: Goodman Transfer List

I thought spriggs was a nice player when we played UWM. I think this would be a great year to grab a grad transfer to bridge the experience gap at guard. Let's you bring the younger guys along more slowly

Re: Goodman Transfer List

When you play your guards nearly 40 minutes a night, you can't possible bring others along more slowly.

Re: Goodman Transfer List

No need to bring Smith along slowly. He's basically a junior, and has been with the team a year already.

I was referring more to the two incoming freshmen guards. I fully expect smith to be our starting point guard and, potentially, our best player

Saw on Fordham site that Maine transfer Isaac Vann has been contacted by Duquesne among others.

Re: Goodman Transfer List

I still think there may be another scholarship opening up.  Ferry is pushing hard to also get PG Jordan Shepherd.  For those following, Thik Bol the 6'7" shot blocker (see recruiting thread) committed to S. Illinois and 6'7" Lorenzo Edwards visited St. Joes last week.

Re: Goodman Transfer List

CLK are you saying another scholarship, as in 2 more spots since we arleady have that one because Powell left? Hear any rumblings of names for possible transfers?

And current student, that would be a hell of a get if we could bring him in.
Isaac Vann Freshman Season stats:

16.4 ppg
45% FG
41.2% 3 pt FG
5.8 rebs/game
1.7 assists
78% Free throw

And the kid is 6'6". Fits more of the profile of a kid who would end up at a BCS school but you never know. We also have the issue of the log jam at the 3 position with James, Jackson, Littleson, and Mike. He could be a good fit though if he could play more of a guard forward role.

This is somewhat of a joke but it would be unbelievable if we got this guy. Consensus 4 star recruit, top 100 player. Maybe the big guys would pass on him because of the sex-tape.

Re: Goodman Transfer List

Evan Daniels ‏@EvanDaniels   Graduate transfer Kellon Thomas has heard from Ball State, Purdue, Minnesota, Northwestern J'ville, IUPUI, W. Ill, Ga State, UIC & Duquesne

He is a 5'10" PG and was a starter for Kent State

Corey Evans ‏@coreyevans_10  Richmond, Old Dominion, and Duquesne are the first to inquire about Virginia Tech transfer big man Satchel Pierce

DU recruited him out of Kiski Prep.

We should go after him hard. He would sit out this year and at least after the only center on our roster graduates, we would pretty much be guaranteed an upgrade at the position immediately.

Looks like a LG clone statistically. 6-8 guy who shoots a lot of 3's. Had 41 points vs. Western Kentucky in the Florida tourney, and no points in some games. Very inconsistent as a RS Junior. Spent first two years at Northwestern, then transferred to Drake.

Duques102, besides being big, why would you go after this guy hard to take up 3 years on your team?  He barely got off of the bench last year vs having some substantial minutes as a Freshman. Was he hurt? Did someone come in to take his minutes?  Looks like he doesn't have much of an offensive game (scored double digits twice in his career), doesn't rebound well (career high is 7) and is a turnover machine. What am I missing?

He's reputed to be a headache as well. Pass!

Re: Goodman Transfer List

Phoenix, I hear you, but I would still take a chance on him. Satchel was highly recruited at Kiski Prep by several major school.  He is a space eater at 7' and will have a year to work on his game.  I doubt however that Ferry will be able to get him or the kid from Drake.  There is heavy competition out there for big men ransfers.

Basing it off of the fact that we have 0 centers behind Lewis. 7 footers are hard to find. Like CLK said, he's at an acc school for a reason. The kid has talent and would probably be exponentially more polished than any prospect we could get out of high school. Didn't look at the numbers, I still look at the 000000 centers behind Lewis and 0000000 centers we have recruited. Sorry for the late response Phoenix

Thanks. I knew nothing about him, so I was wondering if there was more than what was on the surface.

Not the end of the world, while he looks like a decent prospect, I am personally tired of seeing guards under 6 feet out there for us. In a better league it makes it harder for a kid like that to score inside the three point line. Also, as anyone who ever played basketball knows, from an offensive perspective, it is much more difficult to make a shot with a 6'1" hand in your face rather that a 5'10" one, and our perimeter defense needs all the help it can get.
