Offline This is not surprising, as we had heard Ferry was going to promote from within. What is odd is still no well wishes for Nash, and feels to me like is was not a good departure. Also, it appears that the position of Associate Head Coach may have just been eliminated. We will see. Offline It's nice that he has A10 playing experience and NBDL coaching experience. Hopefully he can coach up the defense now that he has an elevated position within the program Offline His A10 playing experience was baseball. Well, his list of attributes appears to plug a lot of Ferry's weak spots. Offline His A10 playing experience was baseball. Well, his list of attributes appears to plug a lot of Ferry's weak spots. Yep, I misread that Offline Good luck to him. Offline Would anyone like to tell me they feel better about the Nash departure now!!!! And CLK, bingo on the "Don't let the door hit you in the ass." Non goodbye. Last edited by The Dome (5/11/2016 7:51 pm) Offline You can watch our WBB team and know which coach is responsible for what. I've seen a lot of our MBB games and I have no clue who does what. Offline Don't like this. Really hope Harper is being political correct and is planning on getting rid of Ferry and co. And then on top of it don't have an asoociate head coach, which literally women's tennis teams even have. You couldn't make this sh*t up. I hear you man but why does every move this department makes have to look so incompetent and Bush league?? I mean no mention of an associate head coach leaving and then a media release of an internal hire/promotion of a guy who played a completely different sport at a high level. I mean, I understand it's not a huge deal to the success/failure of this coaching staff but this is the type of stuff that makes RMU look more legit than us. Offline It's good that Ferry & staff are close-knit. Once in a while, you have to let in some fresh air. Especially when your close-knit group is well under .500 for an extended period. Different scenario if the same group is successful every year. Offline Baudinet could have been a good defensive baseball player. Offline How can you criticize a guy for playing baseball in college. I mean there TONS of coaches that coach in D1 that never played basketball, ahhh ill give you an A10 name... WILL WADE. Oh yeah, the guy that beat Purdue in the NCAA tournament, that ended up getting the head job at Texas Tech. Oh yeah, the guy that beat Purdue in the NCAA tournament, that ended up getting the head job at Texas Tech. I hear you and understand but it's a cumulative effect. This guy isn't will wade. He's like the same age and was a glorified water boy until now from what I understand (in terms of coaching responsibilities). There are guys that are his age coaching programs and to get your first look now suggests he is not in the same vein. On top of everything else this is underwhelming to say the least. I'm sure you can see that side of the argument Offline How can you criticize a guy for playing baseball in college. No idea if this is a good or bad thing. I do know that not having a shiny, sexy new associate head coach in place is a bad thing.

Not sure if you would consider this wishing someone well and not sure why DU doesn't have changes on its site but I did at least see this comment.

According to his bio,
1. His forte was baseball...I guess since it's still a game with balls, this counts.
2. It said he coached at American International through October 2013. Not sure how long he was there but checking some stats, here are the records for that team...for a span of 3 years. Earlier than that he was at Trinity.
2011-2012 - 8-18
2012-2013 - 9-17
2013-2014 - 9-19
3. The team's record at Trinity (where he coached before AI was excellent...don't know why he would move from there. Some really great winning seasons.

Also did Ferry's budget get cut? By promoting an existing head coach, aren't we one coach less than last year?
Re: Brian Baudinet
That said, the best coaching trees are the ones that endure change (usually because the assistants are hired away to be head coaches) and keep on humming.

Ferry will probably hire a coach from the intramural league to fill Baudinet's old job.
Re: Brian Baudinet
If thats not enough for you, he played basketball d3 for one year, and coached in the Dleague for one of the best organizations in the NBA, where players bounce back and forth between D league and NBA. So i think this guy may know a thing or two about basketball.... Just saying

Sorry, SCAJ, but Will Wade's accomplishments being a predictor for Brian Baudinet's ability to coach is roughly equal to Brian Colleary hiring Darelle Porter because Seton Hall had hired Tommy Amaker. Of course it would be jolly if he became Wade some day, but having a similar unqualified background is not really a striking reason to hire someone.
That said, there's nothing wrong with developing and promoting someone, which is really the best justification for this hire. My only concern is the losing atmosphere in which he was developed and promoted.
We've had four years of "this is the way Jimmy Ferry does things." LIU had to wait nine years for the magic to happen. The A10 is not -- NOT -- a conference in which you can get lucky once in a while. Despite the addition of Smith, the freshmen and the transfers, I won't get my hopes up until I see the way this team plays.
If it's another year of cross midcourt and shoot, don't worry about defense, and don't develop anyone, I guarantee you Ferry will never post a winning season here. Even our brain dead administration will recognize it doesn't make sense to spend more than $3 million on Amodio's biggest blunder.
Re: Brian Baudinet
who would really want to up-root their family, only to most likely be fired next march.
there are prob decent out of work coaches out there thinking, why do I want to get fired again.
