Abrahamson and Lewis

Heading to Europe with an "all star" team. A kid from Kentucky is on the roster. I put all star in quote marks for lack of a better description.

My bad ... Far East is not exactly in the neighborhood of Europe.

Re: Abrahamson and Lewis

That kid is a senior at Kentucky (already a red flag in terms of his talent). And has started 9 games and has 100 points in his 3 year career. Most of those other schools involved aren't even d1. Looks more like an outreach program than any kind of experience that will provide development for our guys

Duques102, I'm doing my best not to come across so negatively, which you have suggested is my wont.

While the Ferry era in general has underwhelmed me, I think a Far East trip will be a good experience for Lewis and Abrahamson in terms of personal development, if not game experience. At least the two, if they can get some on-court time together, should develop a bit of a rapport.

To me it's no different than Pitt's summer basketball league, where our players have limited opportunity to play together.

Re: Abrahamson and Lewis

Can't hurt. If a UK player is going, the opposition is probably decent. This might help Lewis a good bit if the coaches are any good. I can tell you one thing, Lithuania hoops above it's weight, so they'll be seeing better teams than we did in Ireland.

I'm sure this UK kid is no star, but I bet he's better than anyone on our roster.

Re: Abrahamson and Lewis

I sure hope this doesn't lead Mr. Harper to schedule Virginia Intermont. You never know!

I wouldn't pin the weak schedules on Harper. Those were Amodio-Ferry concoctions. Harper shows up and we play Kentucky.

Giddy up.

Thank you! I can't understand all the abuse Harper is taking on this board. It might be prudent to at least give the guy a year or two to make his mark.

Re: Abrahamson and Lewis

Ditto's on that, this man impressed me as sincere, he is like the new guy they hire at work. You meet him and say, " I think this guy will do just fine here"

It wasn't always this way at Duquesne, give him some time.

I just mean in the sense that it seems more like some kind of thing where they work with kids and teach basketball more than playing each other in a competitive setting. Idk what it is, but I do agree, if nothing else it gives two guys that figure to be starting at the 4 and 5 together a time to bond and see parts of the world they may never have had the opportunity to. Either way it's a cool thing, just hope it doesn't keep them out of the summer league, want to get a glimpse of abrahamson and Blackman, not that it will mean anything (Rene Castro).

I humbly stand corrected. I have spoken with Mr. Harper on a couple of occasions and I am very hopeful that he can right the ship. My rampant cynicism just reared its ugly head. Sorry to all...

Are there stats anywhere for these games?

I've been going every year. There are times when it is difficult to identify the players unless you know them by appearance. Hopefully it will be better organized this year. Don't recall anything being posted on the website but somehow they come up with a leading scorer, rebounder.

Sounds like you are referring to the Pittsburgh Pro Am Summer league. I am referring to these games in Asia. From the pictures it looks like they are playing against somewhat legitimate competition. Wonder how Abrahamson is playing. looking forward to the Summer league myself Ken, missed it a lot last year.
