Offline So I'm in the Panera on McKnight Road across from Ross Park Mall waiting for a Duquesne friend to show whom I hadn't seen since 1973. She was a Delta Zeta but that's besides the point. My wife was ok with it but that's also besides the point. In any case, I had a red Duquesne basketball tee-shirt so she could recognize me. While waiting a gentleman walked up to me, asked if I were a Duquesne fan and kept up on recruiting. I replied yes and yes. Well, he said that he was Robby Carmody's uncle and thanked me for Duquesne being the first to offer a scholarship. I reciprocated and replied that a better thanks would be if Robby actually accepted the scholarship offer. He kind of laughed and said that they expect to hear from Coach K shortly. He mentioned Notre Dame, Xavier, Purdue, Louisville, Pitt and several others with offers. He did say that if Coach K. did call they would worry that Robby might just disappear on the bench. I encouraged him to put in a good word for Purdue since we have no chance of playing them. I then kind of begged and said please, anyone but Pitt. He said Pitt was down the list so there's one good thing. Offline Has anyone seen him play? If so, how good is he? Alot of those schools mentioned don't usually bring in guys below 4 star ratings. Not saying I don't believe it, there usually are a couple guys in every class that have better offers than their ratings, just have heard alot about that kid and haven't ever seen him play. Really good athlete and is phenomenal at getting to the basket. However, he is a very average shooter at this point. Offline I'd like to see us keep the best local talent at home. Agreed...You would think that at this point we would generate more than gee that's nice now let's get to the offers from serious teams... Agreed...You would think that at this point we would generate more than gee that's nice now let's get to the offers from serious teams... As I think we all know, we need to have a few serious seasons in a row record and postseason berth wise before any player of that caliber will take our offer seriously. For me that also includes beating Pitt a couple times to actually put us in a competitive conversation with them, especially considering a program of that caliber is pretty far down his list. We need one such recruit and then see what follows but I'm not holding my breath.
Robby Carmody from Mars Composite 3.5 stars
WE ARE CREEPING UP TO THE SECOND FLOOR....

Our first goal should be achieving the feat of signing a kid who has a solid offer from both Pitt and DU. We have seen how the pendulum swings every time that is the case. If we can eventually comepete with Pitt for guys that would signify a huge, huge, progression in terms of the identity of this program.
