Micah Mason Signs Pro Contract

Port of Antwerp Giants. Play in top league in Belgium. 6th out of 11 league teams last year and finished 5th in FIBA Euro Cup, whatever that is.

They also have Kevin Dillard, the effective scorer from Dayton of a few years back on the team.

Re: Micah Mason Signs Pro Contract

Just saw this. List of former DU players in Europe seemed light to me, but I'm hard-pressed to remember others.

Do you know where Saunders is? Hope he isn't still trying to come up through the D-League, I just feel bad for him thinking of the money he could have made over the last however many years in Europe instead of spending the prime years of his career chasing the NBA dream in the D-League and basically making AA minor league baseball money. He's clearly at the talent level of just below good enough for the NBA and could probably play for any of the huge European clubs and those guys are paid very well.

Don't know about Saunders. As you saw, article only talked about guys in Europe.

Nice clip from Saunders in 2014. ED you are correct. He could be very well off if he had gone to Europe.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bI_2XHvFjkII ran into Darren Morningstar the Pitt big a couple of years ago. He was interning at Morgan Stanley. He played in Europe for 10 years before his wife said, "OK time to give up on the dream and get a job". He did say that he was very well off after those 10 years.

I know tht as of last year Andre Marhold was playing, and doing well in Europe.  I also recall that former point guard Reggie Jackson was also making a living playing in England.

Damian has struggled since he left Duquesne.  He started out in Germany, was getting some decent playing time and then hurt his leg pretty seriously.  He really disliked being out of the U.S., especially without the structure of basketball.  So he opted to try his luck in the D-League; also taking a big time pay cut.  He knocked around the D-League for 3 years; getting camp tryouts with the Rockets and Jazz, but nothing beyond that.  Two years ago, he played in Japan putting up some decent numbers, but was abruptly released in mid-season. Last year, he went back to the D-League, but only played one game at the beginning of the season (unknown reasons for the short stint). I understand that he is looking for another shot overseas for this coming season.  The big knock on Damian's game is the lack of outside shooting prowess; although he plays bigger, at 6' 6½", he can't just rely on his inside game and quickness at the pro level.
