Don't really care one way or the other but I think to everyone's surprise WVU come out of this far better off than many expected. Other than the logistics, which BTW they have done a lot of creative things to get around I suspect financially they are much better off. Consider football is king and I'd buy a ticket to see Texas, Oklahoma, TCU etc. before seeing any of the ACC offerings. IMHO.

The football schedule is solid, although FSU doesn't take a back seat to any of those programs. The killer for WVU, as it is for St. Louis in the A10, or any outlier, is the minor sports. Being in the B12 beats being in the American, but be assured, WVU would rather be in the ACC. UT and OU are blue bloods in football, but those other schools are really no different than Clemson, or VT. Miami is down, but so is Texas. In hoops, the ACC is more attractive for WVU. KU is great, but the ACC has 2 of those in Duke and UNC. Of course the trump card for the ACC is that they'd be in the same league with their biggest rival. Getting an occasional home game with ND wouldn't be bad either.

Rosters look pretty even. How about the Jeter brothers together?

On the roster update of 7-3, Josh Steel no longer listed.

I believe I saw somewhere that he is playing for Great Britain's U20 national team and won't be back in time

As long as he's playing somewhere, it's a good thing.

Heading over 2nite. Did anybody happen to write down the Duke's jersey numbers?

Re: An Update on the Summer Pro-Am (Summer League)

Here's what I think I saw at 2nites games. Bill Clark was one of the best players on the court. He made a lot of nice passes and hit three 3's in a couple minute span toward end of game. Robinson had really nice game both scoring and rebounding. Looks like he's a little quicker. Isaiah Mike looks like he can score. He scored around the hoop, made some outside shots and pulled up and hit a couple contested shots at the stripe. Smith got to the hole and finished most of them. Had some assists but he didn't play a lot of point. Some little guy from Point Park played there most of game. James didn't seem to do as much as I expected. Didn't see any of the D.Lewis, Blackmon and Jackson  game.  Saw one half each of late games. Littleson hung out at 3 pt.line and I can.t remember him touching the ball. El Duque will be happy to know that Sanders attempted 2 three pointers in 1st half of his game. Taylor was looking good and then bricked 3 shots in a couple minute span.

Re: An Update on the Summer Pro-Am (Summer League)

A little more. Abrahamson only played a couple of minutes while I was watching and went 1 for 2 from the 3. Castro looked his usual summerleague self going to the hole and hitting some outside shots. Lastly I was impressed with Mike Lewis. Looked really good until he went down with an ankle late in 1st half and didn't return. Nice handle and good looking form on jumper.

Re: An Update on the Summer Pro-Am (Summer League)

Duquesne point leaders 2nite Castro 30, Robinson 22, Taylor 21, Sanders 17 and Smith 14.

6-8 PF shooting threes. Great. Going to be a long season, again.

Abrahamson? I believe ferry recently referred to him as a wing?

Re: An Update on the Summer Pro-Am (Summer League)

And I heard from someone who attended both days so far that Tarin Smith has minimal shooting ability outside of 5 feet; and  questionable form on his free throws. Athletic as hell, can get the the basket, but can't shoot.

No, apparently Sanders, according to someone who watched the games (WashPa Rick?). I figured Abrahamson was a wing.

What can be expected based upon weaker HUSKER offensive stats.  Frankly, can be refreshing having a combo guard on the floor with the nature to get the ball inside rather than the alternative.  In addition, from scouting reports, his real asset strength is Defense, anyway.  Fear not Coach Ferry, with Josh, Marq, an improved E, Rene, Blacky and Abe no three attempt will be left unturned.

Yeah it may be nice having too see a guard not chuck up three's. But at the same time we need to stretch the floor. From tape -- Lewis is a good 3 point shooter, while Smith is a hell of a defender. Of course the freshman is going to sit behind the 2nd year transfer but I do hope to see ferry play around with different situations and get Lewis contributing some points this year. Down the line a 1-2 punch at the PG positions could be a great thing to look at.

Re: An Update on the Summer Pro-Am (Summer League)

From Brian Batko of the P-G on Monday's games.
http://blogs.post-gazette.com/sports/college/dukes-dispatches/46983-duquesne-basketball-pittsburgh-pro-am-summer-league-2

A brief note-all we need to know about our point-guard situation is to look at the pedigree of the two true PG's on the roster-- Smith and Lewis, II. (St. Anthony's from Atlantic City area and Chaminade of St. Louis)

Stats had him hitting his only 3 attempt. He either had his foot on the line or the stats are wrong because he missed the two long shots I saw.
