Offline Just checked DU's page on Verbal Commits ( ). Some interesting notes: Offline Yes, I have also been actively monitoring the recruiting class for next year. Very disappointed that we do not seem to make a commitment to add size onto this team. Offline Yes, I have also been actively monitoring the recruiting class for next year. Very disappointed that we do not seem to make a commitment to add size onto this team. Last year was kind of an anomaly. Teams like Duquesne typically don't get commitments until the fall or spring. Most kids like to finish out their aau seasons to see what kind of offers they get before embarking on official visits and making verbal commitments. The players are limited to 5 (I believe) official visits
Three to give, 27 options
1. We have three open scholarships. So far. We've offered to 27 kids so far. Of course, we have a revolving door every year, so we never know how many we might be losing.
2. Of the 27, 3 are listed as power forwards, 10 are listed as shooting forwards, 9 are listed as shooting guards and 5 are listed as point guards. Zero centers. Lewis graduates, we have Robinson behind him, and then ...
3. Which leads me to my next point: None of our recruits are taller than 6'8. Only two players are 6'8.
4. Most of the kids are rated as 2 stars. But there is one 5 star, two 4 star, one 3.5 star and one 3 star players.
5. Hamidou Diallo, a 6'5 shooting guard, is the number 11 ranked player in the country. While Iona, Quinnipiac, Bakersfield, Fairfield and St. Peter's are on his list, so are Kentucky, Duke, Arizona, Kansas, Florida, Maryland, Villanova, Louisville, UConn, Seton Hall, and a host of others. In other words, don't assign a jersey number.
6. Walter Whyte, a 6'5 small forward, is the next highest (and only other) ranked kid on our list. VCU, Davidson and Richmond are probably the two best programs on his list, which includes Monmouth, Niagara, Lehigh, Dartmouth, Holy Cross and Hartford.
7. If you're waiting for the class after that to replace Lewis and Robinson, forget it. Seven players for three spots, none over 6'8. The list includes Robby Carmody and a couple other 3 and 4 star players. Carmody has a Who's Who list of prospective suitors. Would love to land a local star, but I don't know if Ferry has the jibs.
Re: Three to give, 27 options
Also I am surprised that we do not have a commit yet, didn't we have all three committed last year around this time?
