Re: In search of height

He looks about 7'6" in the photo.

Re: In search of height

Looks like a nice player in his highlight videos (although most players do). His late and sudden growth spurt reminds me of Anthony Davis' story: big man who retained guard skills and athleticism. Wouldn't mind getting him.

Re: In search of height

They also offered a 6'9" kid over the weekend.

Also a 6'7" 2017 PF Forward Ethan Chargois

Re: In search of height

More Dukes' recruiting information from Mike Vukovcan of Pittsburgh Sports Now including a 6-9 center from Illinois.  Mike is doing a nice job in bird-dogging these recruits, getting quotes, etc.  Definitely worth a follow:

Edit: Thanks, CLK.  Missed your Verbal Commit link on the Illinois recruit.

Re: In search of height

Don't think my influence is felt on the Bluff? I b***c about the fact we're not recruiting any post players, and bodda beep, bodda boop, bodda bop, they appear on our radar. Excuse me, I have to try to get my head inside the front door.

Re: In search of height

I really like the guard Brion Whitley. Great size and athleticism and his handle can get him to the rack.

All 10 6'4" or taller. While ferry seemed to have genuine love and respect for DC and MM, his recruiting the past two to three years seems to indicate that he has learned that you cannot be undersized at any position and expect to defend at an adequate level

I think we'll find out for sure this season whether the problems the past few years was a case of Ferry's system and coaching being inadequate, or more a case of him just not having the right players to play his style.

Ummmm ... either way, he's the one buying the groceries and doing the cooking.

To paraphrase the ball coach, Duane Charles Parcells.

Our D inside the arc last year improved. I believe we held opponents to around 41% on 2-point FGs. However we got torched from beyond the arc. One would assume that the increased length and athleticism at the guard position would allow us to close out on shooters quicker and more effectively. But, as you said, I guess we'll find out for sure this season.
