I think it would be SUPER if at the Ladies Home Opener - they had a BANNER RAISING CEREMONY - Although Palumbo does have some banners this is the FIRST one with the Ladies and the NCAA. Capital idea! Don't know if it would work logistically but I like it none the same. I am unsure if those plans are in the works. With April at Pitt and both Dev/Milie both overseas it would be hard to say how available they would be. Something to consider in regards to the banner raising, it would be a nice touch. I actually thought about this but never voiced the suggestion. Excellent idea and should be a tradition for every previous season the Dukes make the Tournament. If former players can be there, fine- but not essential. Has anyone approached the SID or Marketing? I'm all in for this. Taking it one step further I think they should have separate banners for each men's and women's NCAA appearance. Men's and women's basketball and volleyball. From what I am hearing this is not going to happen, sorry to burst everyone's bubbles. Apparently the banner is already up. A bit anticlimactic. The banners are indeed already up. One says Atlantic 10 Regular Season Champions, another says NCAA 2nd Round. It would have been great to have all the team there including all the fans for the banner raising and ring ceremony. I think the only one over seas still is Millie since she lives over there. Would be nice to see more banners up now that that barrier has been broken. Didn't seem to be ANYTHING when I was at the scrimmage etc two weeks ago - IF it wasn't up then - they COULD have waited a little longer. Would be nice to see more banners up now that that barrier has been broken. Ring ceremony was never going to be in public after that stunt SMS pulled on us last season. The banners are indeed already up. One says Atlantic 10 Regular Season Champions, another says NCAA 2nd Round. It was the Easten 8 those years. Bit of revisionist history. Maybe the Administration/Athletic Department after reading THESE posts can take the banner BACK DOWN -tell themselves "it was practice putting it up" - wanted to make sure we had room, get an idea HOW it will look - AND DO AN ACTUAL CEREMONY AT THE OPENER ON THE 13TH. I love all the ideas, don't get me wrong, but more important than ceremonial whip cream let's get butts in the seat to see this team. I'm hoping to make a trip to the 'burgh myself. I believe that you are reading too much into what Pitt did for their ring ceremony. For a school that no longer considers this a rivalry, Pitt never misses a chance to take a little dig. Their way of saying they're the big dog and we're the little dog. As long as they have taxpayer dollars and donations from med school alumni rolling in, nothing will change. I believe that you are reading too much into what Pitt did for their ring ceremony. I agree with all your sentiments in paragraph 2. It would be great for the Sunday game to recognize last years team. I know that won't happen, because its my understanding the banner is already up. I believe someone posted somewhere that we had to move on. It was the FIRST TEAM ever and it was and still is special. It will be interesting if the women will outdraw the men tomorrow. Not in their faux announced attendance but with actual people there. This forum is hosted for free by Boardhost. Create your own free forum!

Suggestion for the Home Opener
Would be nice if April (I doubt if SHE would have a problem getting there from her current job) Deva Nyar' (don't know what kind of schedule they have over in Europe, days/months of the week they play etc) and Emile could be present - Maybe they could even pull some of the strings that raise it - Could handle the permanent attachment to the wall later (and perhaps it can become a REGULAR THING - each year if the year is added to the banner - some of the departing players could help raise THAT to the rafters.)
Would be an excellent gesture and an opportunity for some of the NEW fans to appreciate the season they had as well.

If you want to put all the NIT years on one banner and then the championship on a separate banner.
There is plenty of room to hang separate banners from the rafters. Give the place a little atmosphere.

Fun fact, they also raised some new banners for the men's a-10 champs in 80 and 81.on the other side.
I hate myself for loving you. Quoting me without the expressed written consent of the National Hockey League is prohibited.

Re: Suggestion for the Home Opener
Just wanted SOMETHING positive at the Opener beyond the usual.
Maybe the "Video" they show at the start (with some of the players and highlights) on the Over Head Scoreboard - will include a look at the Actual Moment on the Selection Show when the DUQUESNE-SETON HALL pairing was shown!! - and the reaction of the ladies was probably captured on SOMEONE'S cell phone etc - as part of the "every game thing" •

For this team, being the first time in Duquesne's History to make the NCAA it should have been about the team and all the fans that supported this team and continue to support the future Duke Teams. That was a huge accomplishment for the program and the teamwork that went into it from the players, coaches, support staff, and all the fans.

Except in women's basketball, where I believe we'll continue to beat them.

I don't think I'm reading too much into what Pitt and SMS did in their ring ceremony. It was planned to stick in the face of Duquesne.
I believe Coach Burt with his no comment and "we would never do that" comments on the SMS move show he believes it was intentional.
And it motivated the team to kick their ass.

Re: Suggestion for the Home Opener
From the looks of the "crowd" at the men's game last night there was about 500 people excluding the 50 students.
I really hope the same number of students show up tomorrow (highly doubtful there will be more than 10), and the women outdraw the men.
