Iona Game Day!

Women are once again on ESPN 3 at 2:00 PM today against a team that beat A-10 St Joe's in their last game. Go Dukes!

Re: Iona Game Day!

Women win 61-58 in a poor shooting day. Kadri Ann Lass comes up big as does Nina Aho. 3-1 coming home on Tuesday. Go Dukes!

Re: Iona Game Day!

Great road win.  Two things became evident:
1. After making the tournament last year, everybody we play is gonna give it their best shot.
2. Teams will try to take away Amadea & Chassidy & make others beat them.

So far, so good.  3-1 is the absolute best we coulda hoped for at this point, considering the opener was at OSU.

Officer Dribble:

Is this the Bill Belchick theory? ()  Appreciate your posts are usually spot on!

General thoughts

LET teams "try to take Chassidy and Amadea away" - If teams last year were trying to take April and Deva' Nyar away (two Seniors who had the ball in their hands A LOT) THAT Didn't work too well - Maybe that is among the reasons Chassidy and Amadea have developed enough so they ARE a serious problem for the other teams to worry about now.  Not to mention that Kadri-Ann "developed enough" to join Chassidy on the All-Freshman Team and COULD very well have been Rookie of the Year.  Looks like from the last two games Nina might be developing quickly enough to make the other teams pay for that as well.  I think Julijana is going to bust out soon as well.

If WE are doing the same thing - and can do it as well -- Are Buffalo, Dayton , LaSalle - and the remainder of the teams on the schedule - well equipped enough to beat the Duquesne Ladies with THEIR third & fourth option??

Due to the more difficult schedule the record will probably be short of last - year - bottom line ladies SHOULD be good enough to get in the NCAA -  maybe at a slightly higher seed -  And hopefully provide the fans with another enjoyable season.

Re: Iona Game Day!

A-10 will have some tough matchups.  I'm curious to see how the ladies do against Maryland with some games under their feet.  Kind of like losing to Princeton last year, I think by the end of the year it would have been a different result.

Al, thanks for the kind words.  I agree that teams may try to take Amadea & Chassidy away, but will probably be unsuccessful most of the time.  There's so much more to the team than just 2 players.  Besides the ones that you mentioned, I'm anxious to see Sole.  I still remember the game she had against us when she was at Robert Morris - actually, I have nightmares about it.  I wouldn't wanna be a coach preparing to play against us!
