I like the Duquesne livestreams better.  They have announcers giving you a description of the action.

Re: Dukes vs Western Carolina in the Cal Classic

Ladies win 65-52 -  Were up by 20 as godukes mentioned - only scored 4 points in last 4+ minutes after Coach Burt emptied the bench.  Were up 5 at half then put the beatdown on in the third and start of the 4th quarters.  Chassidy played whole third quarter and blew by them a few times in the fourth -  Paige Cannon did some nice things on defense - Szmoza and Kadri-Ann were their usual solid selves.  Judith Sole was still in civies.

Very poor video quality and no announcers.  For a big state supported university, their coverage of the game was bush league.

Dukes win, 65-50.  Cassidy Omogrosso scored 22 points, 8-16 FGs, 2-8 3-pointers, and 4-6 FTs, 5 rbs., 3 assists, 3 TOs, & 2 steals in 30 minutes of playing time.  Amadea Szamosi scored 10 points, and grabbed 13 rbs. in 26 minutes.

The Dukes, 4-2, will play California, 5-0, tomorrow in the championship game which will start at 6:15 (EST) / 3:15 (PST).

Re: Dukes vs Western Carolina in the Cal Classic

Cal is quite good. There are no RPI rankings yet as far as I can tell, but Cal is ranked #32 in the coaches' poll and #38 in the AP. So they're good, and this would be a very meaningful game to have under the team's belt if the Dukes are able to beat them in their own house.

I hate myself for loving you. Quoting me without the expressed written consent of the National Hockey League is prohibited.

Looks like Cal's live stream will have the game.

Re: Dukes vs Western Carolina in the Cal Classic

Dukes are being overwhelmed by a team that's faster and bigger than the Dukes and is shooting the lights out of the arena (whatever that means).  The Dukes are trailing California 49-32.  Omogrosso leads the Dukes with 12 points.   Neither Lass nor Aho have scored.  Samosi has only one rebound & Lass has four.

Stats at half time:

                     Dukes             California

FG                36.7%                61.3%
3- Pt             42.9%                66.7%
FT                 80.0%                62.5%
Rb.                 12                       19
TO                   8                         5

Re: Dukes vs Western Carolina in the Cal Classic

Dukes down 69-52 at the end of the 3rd Q.  Connor Richardson and Amadea Samosi both have 12 points.  California just isn't missing their shots.  I might be a moral victory for the Dukes if they can keep the score within 10 points or less.

Re: Dukes vs Western Carolina in the Cal Classic

Dukes lose, 86-66, to a really good California team.  Cal has too much muscle and shooting accuracy for the Dukes to handle tonight.  A healthy Judith Sole would perhaps have made a difference under the boards.  Apparently she has not been cleared to play since she suffered a concussion in a practice before the season started.

Chassidy Omogrosso named to all-tournament team.  Her stats: 17 pts., 5 3-pt., 2-2 FT, 3 rbs., 5 assists, 3 TO in 40 minutes of play.  No player on either team played all 40 minutes!  Conor Richardson had one of her better games in her college career: 12 pts., 3 rbs., 2 assists, and 0 TOs in 28 minutes.  Juli Vojinovic had a very productive game.  She seemed to be in the hustle mode tonight: 10 pts., 8 rbs.,4 assists, & 2 TOs in 23 minutes of playing time.  Szamosi had 12 pts., 3  rbs., & 4 PFs in 34 minutes.  Page Cannon had 9 pts., 3-4 FG, 2-2 3-pt., 1-1 FT, 5 rbs.,1 assist, 4 TOs in 19 minutes.

Re: Dukes vs Western Carolina in the Cal Classic

Not concerned about any losses to quality opponents which Cal certainly was.  Coach Burt is building something at Duquesne.  And growing pains are a part of the building process.

I love his approach to take on quality in the OCC. This will pay dividends in the A10 season and in future seasons.

Padding the record against NEC isn't going to take this program to where Coach Burt wants it.  I'm glad there is someone at DU that has vision of greatness.
