Just remember. The last time we beat Pitt? Darelle Porter was the coach. The reason we beat them? We had six men on the court but their very talented point guard, a freshman at the time whose name I can't remember, missed the free throw to tie it. Aaron Lovelace was the star of the game. The time before that? Jim Satalin was the coach. Sean Kelley had the only double-double of his career and was the star. We could have beat them with Saunders and Clarke and a 17 point half-time lead but E. Evans dribbled off his knee on one possession and threw a pass to no one on another to clinch the loss in OT. This begets my question. Why the f..*&%k do we even play them? It makes no sense. Must be for the money?

Actually, Scott Edgar also beat Pitt during his last year. Actually, the last 4 times we beat Pitt, the coach was fired at the end of the season (Rice, Satalin, Edgar, Porter). A win tonight will seal Ferry's fate!!!
Thinking about that fact, there are so many fans who put such importance on winning this game, I wonder if the fact that Ron never beat Pitt was a factor in souring some of the posters who turned against him.
I remember that Edgar game. Wasn't that Kori Hlede's last year as the womens team made it a double header sweep of Pitt?
Went to that game with my basketball obsessed niece (aged 13 at the time) and she was just blown away by Hlede! BTW, niece went to be the all time leading scorer in her high school history, mens or womens. :-)

Kori was such an amazing and entertaining player to watch. I don't think I've seen anyone like her since, male or female. The Magic Johnson of Duquesne basketball!
Congrats to your niece, that's quite an accomplishment.

Yeah. JP. Great memory WashPa!

Thoughts? I think Darius just lost his starting job as of tonight.

Nice effort in the first half. I like the shorter bench tonight.

That'll teach me not to go and not to listen. Of course now, Ferry will get a 3 year extension and Stallings will be fired!!

If you think I'm going too back off my criticism of this program, forget it. They still stink, they still have bad talent and they are poorly coached. Pure luck. But a nice win nonetheless.

Beating Pitt doesn't change the fact that we have issues, but I'm gonna enjoy this one for a few days. I'm happy for the players and coaches. Hopefully this is the confidence boost they needed.

Nice to win. Should be enjoyed by all Dukes fans. Probably helped that Artis didn't play, but it will be a W in the record anyway. But will it matter if they stink the rest of the OOC and in A10 Conference play. Saw President Gormley whooping it up after the game - does that mean Ferry survives regardless of results the rest of the way?

I never thought I would agree with Ritters but I am still going to scrutinize Ferry until I see vast improvement. Of course, I am enjoying this win a ton as I can't stand Pitt fans. That said, 19/20 wins or hit the road.

I'm happy, but they'll have to win the rest of their ooc games for me to think they have turned a corner. As I posted earlier, the previous 4 coaches to beat Pitt were fired at the end of the season.

Enjoy the moment. The stars aligned tonight. I am happy for the players and students. I hope the students are back in force against RMU.

We don't get many happy nights like this. Congrats to Coach Ferry and all.

I think I'm happiest for Ray Goss.

Thanks for sharing that great photo, CLK. I just emailed it to my brother, another longtime fan and one-time regular on this board who has pretty much given up on the Dukes after decades of misery and disappointment.
Great win.
LET'S GO DUQUESNE!!!

Ya think??? Understatement of the year. That being said, I loved every minute of it. Like I said, I was there with my bosses husband who was a Pitt fan. Made it that much sweeter. Ferry needs to be coaching for his life the rest of the way out because he probably is. Great picture CLK, I took a picture and a video too I'll try to get it on here.
I'm 25 years old and the streak lasted 15 years. Keeping this ticket.
For the super critics, don't stop feeling the way you do because it is justified but please take the time to enjoy the fact that for just one night, Pitt did eat Sh.i.t. Go dukes!

Haha trust me, I have sent about 10 texts to my Pitt friends. I have an "Eat (profanity) Pitt" shirt. I hate them.

It's very ugly over on the Pitt board. The folks who hate the Stallings hire are wallowing in negative glory tonight. Dixon never lost to the Dukes.

Same here. Listening to Ray doing the play-by-play against St. Vincent's — a 123-55 blowout back in December of '69 — followed by his vivid description of Willie Hines stealing the ball three times while scoring six points in a span of 20 seconds against Marshall a few nights later, made me a lifelong Duquesne fan.

This has to be pretty confusing for them. They just handled Maryland on the road a few days ago and then lose by 9 to a Duquesne team with three bad losses.

Wow! Just Wow!
Could this be the confidence boost that propels this team to better things? I hope so. It has been a frustrating season at best, but al least for a while we get to revel in the moment. Go Dukes!
