Could this be the confidence boost that propels this team to better things?  I hope so.  It has been a frustrating season at best, but al least for a while we get to revel in the moment.  Go Dukes!

Hell yeah this win is bringing all kind of people out of the woodwork, keep posting!

Re: Game Thread - Pitt

So I come home from an office Christmas Party tonight and pull up ESPN.com to review the Pitt/Duquesne box score to see what kind of a pounding we took.

WOW
What a surprise, and a joy, CLK thanks for posting the floor celebration, I was at the arena in 2000 on the floor celebrating the last one, but this one is even sweeter since we have been so dismayed at the teams start.

Ditto being glad for Ray Goss, a long time friend who brings our games to life with his game calling.

I will not say anything else about this team for a while, tonite is the time not to mess with happiness.

It's very ugly over on the Pitt board. The folks who hate the Stallings hire are wallowing in negative glory tonight. Dixon never lost to the Dukes.

I was surprised that Stallings didn't full court press and put pressure on the Dukes, especially after the success that other teams had against the Dukes. That lazy 1-2-2 defense just allowed the Dukes to control the clock and manage possessions. Only 8 turnovers; well done by the Dukes.

Re: Game Thread - Pitt

Fjhryn since I'm one of the most vocal I'll take the bait. I sat there tonight as I have for way to many years and was pleasantly shocked. But if any one believes we can't go out and lose to RMU Tuesday your crazy. Ferry still makes the inexcusable substitutions, leaving very serviceable players to rote on the bench. As CLK so apply stated the stars aligned, Artis doesn't play, we force more turnovers than we committe, Pitt shots the ball horrifically and for some crazy reason Stallings doesn't stay in his zone long enough. And finally if this in anyway saves Ferry's job I would rather have lost. Sorry.

Phoenix Pitt's guards aren't quick enough to put on the kind of pressure most other teams can.

I will also bite by saying that Pitt missed a TON of open shots.  I think we should beat RMU but I still expect us to get clobbered during A10 play.

This in no way should save Ferry's job. Winning the rest of our ooc games, and being .500 in league play is what will save Ferry's job. The last 4 coaches to beat Pitt thought they were safe. All 4 were fired at the end of the season.

Re: Game Thread - Pitt

great win for the kids. maybe they pull a penn st/franklin and use this win to gain confidence and turn season around...no one thought that one would happen either.

(still doesn't change my opinion of ferry, i think they won despite him)
hopefully the players can call out the students and to get them to show up to more games at palumbo.

{ferry and franklin do sort of parallel each other if you think about it-both took over programs in disarray and were given obscene amounts of money, both coaches are/were disliked by fan base and thought of as good recruiters and salesman, but terrible coaches, both used the "it takes time" mantra---franklin was smart enough to bring in a new OC and Oline coach---, both have just won huge games that no one thought they would ever win, it turned everything around for PSU, hopefully, it does same for dukes!!!}

Loved the win. It's telling that those who were most vocal on this thread yesterday are totally silent now. Come on guys, enjoy this win and continue your vitriol tomorrow.

There is clearly joy in Bluffville. It must be sustained and not a highlight to mean anything in the end. Losing to a Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's court will be a Rhymes with Pitt stain on this wonderful moment.

Go out and whip them fiercely, Dukes!

Very happy to hear this and a great picture of the storming of the court.

Re: Game Thread - Pitt

Ferry got a gator Aid dousing in the locker room. That might be a first on the bluff.

I'll bite as well and although I am truly relishing this victory.  It made my weekend and I watched over and over the highlights while a sipped on a nice glass of Blanton's - 1 ice cube please!  Anyway, I am still with Dome and Simms on the assessment of Ferry and DUQ81 is also spot on, Ferry has to win all OOC games and at least 500 in league to be retained.

Ya think??? Understatement of the year. That being said, I loved every minute of it. Like I said, I was there with my bosses husband who was a Pitt fan. Made it that much sweeter. Ferry needs to be coaching for his life the rest of the way out because he probably is. Great picture CLK, I took a picture and a video too I'll try to get it on here.

I'm 25 years old and the streak lasted 15 years. Keeping this ticket.

For the super critics, don't stop feeling the way you do because it is justified but please take the time to enjoy the fact that for just one night, Pitt did eat Sh.i.t. Go dukes!

Haha trust me, I have sent about 10 texts to my Pitt friends.  I have an "Eat (profanity) Pitt" shirt.  I hate them.

Great day for the Dukes but this is not a good Pitt team (by their standards) and I don't think they would win 4 games in the ACC without Artis.  No J. Robinson and no complaints by you all?  A great win but doesnt change a thing.

Re: Game Thread - Pitt

Thanks Tejas! It all tastes better with a win, but I hear Wharfrat's concerns and I myself still wonder.  A great win for sure last night, but the stars did align for us quite a bit as others have noted.  That being said, we've certainly lost enough when by all rights we should have won games so I'll take it gladly.  Back to JRob, can some REPORTER please grille Ferry on why he hardly plays Robinson???  They've asked, but have accepted the lame reasoning Ferry gives.  So any of you REPORTERS from the Post-Gazette here should be the follow-up question: "Coach, how do you justify not playing Robinson more than a few minutes a game when he is clearly your best, most athletic and productive low post threat?"  If he gives the defense excuse then ask how much worse is it then Lewis, especially when comparing the offensive productivity - and give him the stats.  This kid needs to get at least 15 minutes a game.

There is a Coach Ferry show at the Red Ring on Thursday, December 8, 2016 beginning at 7:00.  I go to his shows and I find he will answer any question you have excepting things protecting the players as students by Federal law and suspension issues.  Why not show up and ask the questions yourself? I'll be there with a good looking red head.

Re: Game Thread - Pitt

Robinson season stats are 32 minutes, 20 points and 10 rebounds. Maybe coach needs to look a little harder at the stats sheet.

Re: Game Thread - Pitt

Gram I hear you, but I am not ready to take that step yet,  To many scars on the chest from DU bball.  I need to see more positive direction this year before I consider investing more time and emotion into the program.  Anyway, I am out of town on business and wouldn't be able to attend if the foregoing were not the case.  Maybe someone can take my proxy???

Re: Game Thread - Pitt

Grammy I was not asking for myself. I have quite the lovely blonde who has overlooked quite a bit to stick around 31 years (sort of like my affinity for DU hoops). I merely don't want any of the other attendees to feel slighted.

Sounds good to me Gramm!  Don't let him waffle and have those stats that someone posted ready.

Re: Game Thread - Pitt

One more thing Gramm, don't let the explanation be when we play a "bigger team"!  That is not an acceptable reason for JRob getting so many fewer minutes than DLewis - whose lack of athleticism and offensive shortcomings have been duly noted by many of us already.
