Offline I've read various comments on two threads, Changes & Rhody game comments that make me ask the above question. Mulder your 3rd point in the Changes thread hit it on the head. What reward is there for the player who puts forth effort? It has been 3 games in a row that JRob has been our best big on the floor but what has it gotten him? He's still the third guy off the bench. E. James who has been ask to play the 4, IMHO out of position all year, hustle his butt of on Saturday do you think that will get him any more minutes? We are not talking about genius revelations but naked eye assessments. Can Abrahamson get any worse yet he still gets the call. And as I have repeatedly said and I couldn't agree with Mulder more what is being done and said at practice, all I've ever heard is how bad a practice player JRob is what was ever done to change that. Discussing this with a fellow season ticket holder he brought up the inexplicable benching of McCoy in his Senior year when he was obviously a team leader. Offline Darius Lewis will become the third player that Ferry recruited in five years to play here four years and graduate. Colter and Jones are the other two. We've had more than TWICE as many "4-year" players LEAVE during that time (Winters, Watkins, Powell, Jackson, Steele, Gill, Ridenour) after one or two years, as well as two JUCOs (Binney and White) who lasted one year each. Mason was here three years and Soko and McKoy two each (Ovie only played one). Offline ED, the constant turnover was probably the biggest criticism of ron's time, so ferry certainly deserves to hear it too. Far too many players in and out to create a consistent core like the senior laden VCU and Dayton teams. However, this isn't a phenomenon unique to Ron and ferry. This turnover has been rampant throughout college basketball, and the transfer list seems to grow every year. The best coaches are the ones that are able to find "program" players who create stability. Offline Dukes2012, I certainly understand all of that, but after Lewis, you have two four year players scheduled to graduate next year and only one the year after that. Every player has unique circumstances. But playing and continuously losing in this system is certainly not an incentive to stay. Which leads back to my assertion that he does NOT know how to build a winning program. Two winning seasons in 15 years? I get your point, but I would leave Gill out of the discussion, since he played three full years and graduated from Duquesne. He would have been welcomed back for his final year, true, but the "senior" transfer rule is another discussion altogether and doesn't necessarily reflect negatively on the program. He had a chance to play at a Big Ten school with a chance to play on TV every game, in front of large crowds and get to the NCAA Tourney. So the fact that he improved at Duquesne allowed him to play one year at a school that didn't recruit him out of High School because they didn't think he could contribute. Still would have liked to get four years out of him. Offline Big news For those of you who are old enough to understand this: Perhaps Smalltime Jim could be an aquatic-type swimming director.
WHY SHOULD I TRY??????
Re: WHY SHOULD I TRY??????
This will be Ferry's fourth losing season in five years. The pinnacle of his success was a 17-17 campaign.
All the talk in the world about facilities & money means far less to me than the fact the our $3 million man, our next level coach, our "building the program brick by brick" guy, isn't cutting it.
