You know it's bad when you look bad in comparison to what's going on at Pitt, where the lynch mob has already formed, and the AD has done a GA, and hightailed it out of town ( have we ever, even during this 45 year disaster, been beaten by 55 points at home? Egad!). I'd think it was some sort of "Pittsburgh thing", but the folks at Bobby Mo don't seem to be affected. Maybe their location out in Moon protects them from this awful malady.
 

This Richmond Program has beaten Duquesne for decades, regardless of who is coaching them. A far cry from the beginning when both were Independants and Red' s squads used them as a tune up for the DePaul's and Detroit's and Maryland's of the then basketball world, who the Dukes played yearly.

I still remember when the Pittsburgh Press reported in horror around 1974 that Duquesne dropped out of the Top 50 rankings. Now we would give our eye teeth to be in the Top 100.

From 1973-1994, Dukes won 7 in a row vs. Richmond. Since Richmond joined the A-10 in 2002, the Dukes are 1-18 vs Richmond.

Ugh, yeah and I think that was the game that lost John Carroll his job. BC probably decided then to fire him, one year after we made the NIT and actually won a game.  And don't forget we had a great base (Pipkins, Bostic and Price) that Edgar just pissed away.

I was there for that one. Palumbo was sold out. Didn't the NCAA vacate that win though because of a Calipari/Camby no-no. So maybe it never happened, alternate history. Tejas, you are correct, three great players and zero results, then throw in Mike James whom Edgar didn't want. What a total waste.

I've stopped paying attention.

Had to be a good effort by the Dukes tonight with both Freshmen and Blackman scoring over 20 points each; they just need to defend better as a team.

I also think that Ferry is not a good coach. And the stats show that historically Ferry's teams on defense have always been below average, at best, to downright awful.  We are now halfway through the conference games and the Dukes are sitting dead last in conference games in defensive efficiency (112.2, Dayton leads the conference at 88.6).

Last year, the Dukes were 10th in conference games in defensive efficiency at 108.0. Even though, as Ferry told us, they lost their best defensive player in J Jones (excuse) and had short guards that couldn't defend (blame). Yet here we are again, playing bad defense. The constant in the equation is Ferry.

Boys, I don't think we have to dig that deep to determine Ferry is an awful coach. Doesn't even come close to passing the eye test. I can't see a scenario where he keeps his job after this season with the five years he's had. Like Eld said, that's only if we have a real ad. At this point I haven't seen anything to suggest there is change in that regard.
