Offline Turnovers for top 6 minutes guys: Last edited by Duques102 (2/02/2017 3:58 pm) Offline No, that's not what I said. But thanks for trying. Offline If I were Ferry I'd also cut back on Smith's minutes, including benching him as a starter. He's doing a lot of huddling and talking to his assistants; probably compiling a list of who to throw under the bus. Offline 102 you are correct about TSmith, but El D at least admits he should not be starting and he would cut down on his minutes, so I take that somewhat as an admission. IMike is also NOT A PG, is a freshman seeing a ton of minutes and is already counted on to anchor the scoring on this team. I am very frustrated with TSmith, but I sincerely hope he can improve in the turnover department and in his shooting - he certainly has the size and is athletic enough. Anyway, maybe a decent coach can mold him better and hopefully we'll be able to see if that is the case next year! Hang in there guys, we all suffer from the same DU Hoops psychosis!
Re: St. Bonaventure Game Day
Mike Lewis II-48
Blackman-42
Isiaha Mike-59
Tarin Smith-52
Rene Castro-28
Sanders-31
By your logic his turnover numbers are a result of Ferry not telling him to stop throwing the ball out of bounds or to the other team. The above and what I would assume to be many others unbiased opinion is that he is a terrible decision maker with the ball in his hands, not a great trait for a point guard.
From watching almost every game I can confidently say the bulk of I mikes turnovers are walks and offensive fouls (ditto Lewis 2) as a result of trying to be aggressive on offense (one of the only guys on the team who does this) and adjusting to a quicker, higher level of the game he hasn't experienced. If we were a good team with a good coach and didn't have to rely so heavily on freshman because we had roster depth Smiths numbers would stick out even more and look even worse.
At this point he just isn't a great player. Thats with two years of playing at the d1 level and an additional year practicing at that level.

That said, I'd also be working with him to cut back on his mistakes. That would be Ferry's job. When I watch him on the bench, I'm hard-pressed to figure out what he's doing. •Thread Starter
